The Little Chef
About this Cook
Part time college student and babysitter, full time mother of the Little Chef. (He's not much help around the kitchen, but he likes to watch.) Married to the Finicky Italian. He's not much help around the kitchen either - at least when it comes to cleaning up after himself.
My favorite things to cook
Right now I'm doing a lot of experimenting with meringue cookies - they're inexpensive and seem simple, but it's proving surprisingly hard to get them right.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family? Cooking? Traditions? Seriously, my mother and grandmothers are all good cooks . . . all of them cook nutritious, well balanced meals. I've learned that a few simple ingredients are often all it takes to create something delicious.
My cooking triumphs
I love baking bread. And I make a mean meat sauce.
My cooking tragedies
The time I made bread and muffins . . . and forgot the oven was on the "broil" setting. And there have been numerous meringue debacles . . . notably involving a double boiler.

Best Ever Butter Cream Frosting
This recipe is wonderful. Though the frosting is rich, it isn't too sweet. I usually hate frosting - way too sugary - and this was really excellent. I will certainly make it again.

Quinoa Tabbouleh
I thought this was great! Next time, though, I'll chop the carrots for more of a flavor blast, and add feta cheese.

Forgotten Cookies II
My first true meringue success! We ended up sampling the cookies after about three hours, but they were mostly set by that point. A very good recipe, and not too difficult. I washed the utensils with lemon juice before hand, to cut down on grease.
