Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
This is quite good and wonderfully quick to throw in the crockpot. I had to keep a close eye on it and removed it when the pop up button "popped" - was glad I did because it would have been dry otherwise. Flavor was quite good! UPDATE I had to upgrade my rating - this is now one of our favorites! I make it a couple of times a month, either with a turkey breast or a whole chicken, and it is SO GOOD! I prefer (still) to use a bird with a button so that we can remove it and not overcook. Leftovers are perfect for soup.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
Fantastic as written, have made this multiple times now. Can just sprinkle liberally with onion/garlic powder/lemon pepper if you don't have or don't want to use minced garlic or lemon. Other sauces work, too, we really liked steak sauce and teriyaki sauce (not together, LOL) instead of the barbecue. Easy to customize flavors!

Corn and Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
Wonderful. A friend brought this to a bbq and it's now one of my favorite summer dishes. Use a 15 oz. can of corn, though.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
Very good. Quadrupled (family of 7) the recipe. Only change I will make in the future is to add some bbq sauce instead of the brown sugar, it was a bit sweet for us.

Cheese Biscuits I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
Delicious! I used sharp cheddar and fresh grated romano cheese instead of the parmesan, 1/2 cup, I assumed the recipe meant 1/4 cup of a canister of parmesan.

Eggnog Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
We very much enjoyed these cookies. Followed the recipe exactly as written - I was a little worried, the dough seemed "sticky" but the cookies themselves were wonderful and the last few were still good 48 hours after baking. Thumbs up from my family! Will definitely be making again.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
These were yummy and came out perfect! I did change a couple of things (always do) - used 3/4 cup cocoa and 1/4 canola oil whisked until smooth (no baking chocolate) and added 1/2 tsp almond extract but otherwise followed the directions. We will definitely be making these again. They are insanely sticky, though; I will definitely try the foil trick next time.

Teriyaki Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
Very good. I don't keep cooking sherry around, so I subbed 2 tbsp chicken broth and 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar (I think you could use any "sweet" vinegar). Very good as a marinade for chicken. We make this all the time - it's our "go to" meal (usually put on chicken) when we are craving Chinese type food.

Greek Seasoning Blend

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2015
Fantastic! I make it without the cornstarch (I follow a grain free/low carb diet) and don't miss it. I want to get a coffee grinder so I can pulverize it but it's fabulous and worth measuring out all those spices even if you don't have something like that around! (My food processor didn't work for this task.)

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
Fantastic. Made the adaptions as recommended (1 cup peanut butter, 2 cups brown sugar, and 3 cups confectioners sugar) and it was wonderful and couldn't be any easier! Decadent!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
Excellent for the purpose for which it was designed. Only changes I made were to add whole wheat flour for half the flour and we used olive oil. We did two batches and split the dough so that we had four decent sized, thin crusted pizzas (but it was still chewy!). Will definitely be using this one again!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
These are fantastic!! We enjoy these with a wide variety of jams. Works with margarine, too, although it is definitely better with butter. MMmmmmm!

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Heavenly! We make this to go with our yearly apple picking & pie making (highly recommend Granny Ople's pie filling with the earthquake crust from this site!) and it is divine. Definitely a rare treat due to the calories but we look forward to it every fall.

Roasted Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
Wonderful. I added salt to the potatoes while they were baking. To change things up have added some caramelized onions (2-ish) to the dressing. Very, very good. We just used 2 eggs instead of 4.

Buttermilk Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
These are wonderful!! The only change I made was to use old fashioned oats instead of the quick cook, so I pulsed them in the food processor several times to get them down to quick cook size and they worked beautifully. Let cool for another 5-10 minutes out of the pan so the wrapper didn't stick to the muffin. Oh, and not sure what we did, but we ended up making 10 muffins and cooking for 15 minutes. I'm looking forward to playing around with add ins - we have some beautiful fresh blueberries that would be lovely in these.

Peaches 'N Cream Banana Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: May 28, 2010
Very good. Have made both as written (very good) but also skipping the ice, with half a frozen banana and 1/2 cup sliced chilled peaches (I like less banana). Very filling and very good flavor! Look forward to playing around with different flavors of the various ingredients - the proportions are great, I would just skip the ice - freeze the banana instead.

Banana Split Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Even better the second day. I do have to confess to using milk chocolate chips (prefer them) and we added 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries (to make it more "banana split" like). I actually wasn't too enamored with it the first day but this morning the flavors were fabulous! Will make again.

Acini di Pepe Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
I've made this a few times and keep forgetting to review - it's very tasty. I do halve the sugar (it's quite sweet) and would like to try it with orzo instead of the acini di pepe at some point. I have also used extra fruit instead of the marshmallows. I could very happily just eat the custard ... it is wonderful stuff. :)

Green Slime Smoothie

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
Very good - I used agave instead of honey (I'm out of honey). Only had frozen bananas, so added a bit of water to make it blend properly (a fair amount, about a cup). Skipped the ice altogether, it didn't need it.
