About this Cook
I'm a happily married mom of four kids - three boys, one girl. I collect recipes and cookbooks like some people collect carnival glass!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that goes over well with my family that doesn't take hours to prepare. Seriously. I love good food, and healthy food, but with four kids, time is a prized possession.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There's the pumpkin chiffon pie recipe from my mother that we make every holiday, as well as the inability to cook any recipe exactly as written.
My cooking triumphs
Creating a recipe from scratch and having it be a hit (the one that comes to mind is beef stew).
My cooking tragedies
Oh, man. The two that come to mind are early in my marriage - within the first 6 months or so - the garlic chicken (WAY too much garlic) and then there was the cinnamon chicken. Neither dh nor I could touch that latter one, lol!

Extra Easy Hummus
Good, but I agree with other reviews that it's a bit bland. I mixed in some homemade taco seasoning (about a tbsp, no salt added) and now have a taco-ish flavored hummus that is quite tasty!

Sweet Summer Smoothie
Very good - love that it uses greek yogurt! No extra sweeteners needed. The only change I made was I used blueberry instead of vanilla. Very filling ... feels like I'm eating dessert. :)

Garlic and Ranch Turkey Burgers
Good but definitely needs additional binder. I had 20 oz. pkgs of ground turkey, so I used 2/3 cup bread crumbs and 2 eggs (wasn't going to attempt half an egg). Doesn't need the additional s/p. Will definitely make this again - was a big hit with the kids.
