No-Fuss Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
These are a good, basic, EASY drop biscuit. They definitely need butter or jam if served by themselves, as they are on the bland end. I think I'll try them with more salt next time. I did try one batch with ground red pepper in the batter and on top, and those were very good!

Cranberry Scones

Really impressive scone recipe. Less dense than the scones I'm used to. I halved the fresh cranberries. Didn't try the butter, but will next time!

Cranberry Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I used the fruit/nut setting (no sweet bread on mine) and it baked perfectly, no problems. I agree it needs more spice, but otherwise a nice bread.

Rosemary Herb Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
Texture marvelous, tastes great (though I'd add more rosemary, for sure), but there was too much dough for my machine - it rose into the lid, and I have a standard machine that can handle up to 2 lb.s. Would be great with some flavored olive oil.

Pumpkin Flax Quickbread

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
Marvelous. I loved this. I was looking for a lowfat, no butter version - delicious! Crisp, chewy outside, moist inside, and the flavor is a perfect amount of spice. I love the flavor. I also cut the sugar to 1 c., replaced the applesauce with more pumpkin, and used all whole wheat flour (no white or pastry flour). Oh, and I used fresh cooked pumpkin that I pureed in the food processor. So good.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
Really good, but too cakey for me. Still looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. One plus of this recipe - the dough is really pliable, making it a cinch to roll/shape.

Far too sweet. Otherwise, great! Will use again, but tweak.

I'm sorry - I didn't care for this. It tasted like the ingredients, just stirred together.

Wonderful! I used just onions on top and used juice instead of water.

Simple Spinach Lasagna

I used wheat lasagna noodles, which I think really took away from the taste.

Strawberry Onion Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2006
This is great; I just made it for the second time for an Easter lunch. I do find it too sweet, though, so this time I've cut the sugar a little. My suggestion is to add the sugar last and do it to taste. Also, if you don't have to have quite so many poppyseeds if you don't have them. 1 Tbs. would be plenty. Thanks for a great recipe!

Kathy's Roast and Vegetables

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
I thought this was great. I used chuck roast, cubed it to trim the fat, and that worked just fine. I added more carrots, used sweet potatoes instead, and added frozen peas about 10 minutes before serving. Big hit.

Dump Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2006
I used this for a first birthday party cake. We used cherry pie filling and I think that made it even better. I also melted the butter, but I could see that lots of thin pats would do the same. Delicious and so easy!
