I halved the recipe. Very easy to make and tasty too. But still looking for something better.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
I think we need powdered sugar for this coz the butter did not cream well and the cake did not rise! Well, I guess it's common sense to use powdered sugar for cakes but I missed on that! Anyway, my disappointment did not last long coz these cakes were deliciousss! A very good recipe. Thanks!

Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
My first time with Cinnamon rolls and very easy I must say. The best thing I liked about this recipe is preparing it at night and letting it rise in the fridege as I normally don't have time to start from scratch in the morns due to the rush. Thanks.

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
Reading earlier reviews I cut down the sugar to 1.5 cups and the oil to a lil less than 1 cup. The cake turned out great. Soft, soft, soft! I thought it could have been more sweeter so the 2 cups of sugar would've been fine. More of apple would do I think. All in all it was a good recipe. Thanks for sharing. UPDATE: Tastes even better when refrigerated!

Orange Almond Biscotti II

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2007
This was really crunchy and good! I omitted the orange rind as I wanted to try out the plain one first. Next time however I will add the rind inshaAllah. It sure will enhance the flavor. I used cashewnuts instead of almonds too. This is a good and easy recipe. I did not have any problem with the dough like some of reviewers have said before. The dough was just fine although a lil sticky. I greased my hands well and pressed the dough on the baking tray. Thanks for the recipe!

Biscotti

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
TO be honest as soon as I baked these, I wasn't very pleased with it. It was too sweet and not so good. Now that it is 2 days old, it tastes just right! I did not make any changes in the recipe except that I used vanilla essence instead of anise. I did not find the dough sticky to handle like some said and nor did I get 42 biscottis. Just around 30 or so. All in all it was good and I would be making it again inshaAllah with different flavors.

Banana Muffins I

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
I did not have sour cream so used an extra 1/4 cup banana at the suggestion of my mom. It was very soft and fluffy but tasted somewhat bitter. I think the baking powder was way too much?

Classic Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
Following various earlier reviews this is what I did : Used 2 cups of whole wheat and 1 cup of all purpose. Made one loaf with the batter instead of two and added an extra 1/4 cup of milk. The extra milk did not seem to be enough, perhaps we need to add 1/3 cup or so. I kept wetting my hands with some milk while kneading coz my dough was far from smooth and elastic. I kept doing this till the dough turned smooth. The dough rose well during the 1st rise but it failed to rise the second time! I wonder why. And although the bread had a good taste it was more cake like. Perhaps I should've also followed another review of just using 2 cups of flour on the whole. I would have then got a light bread. I might do this again with less flour next time. Thanks for the recipe.

Like most of the reviewers said, it did not rise enough! A decent bread though. Tasted good. Maybe we should proof the yeast first?

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
This is my first time in baking a bread and it came out fine. I don't know if we get bread flour here in India so I therefore followed 2 earlier reviews and used all purpose flour and wheat flour. It was quite easy and my husband really loved it. Thanks for the recipe.

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

A good and healthy bread. My bananas were getting over ripe again and I did not want to make the same ol unhealthy banana breads. I was very glad to come across this very healthy recipe. And I was surprised at how soft the bread turned out. Thanks for sharing this healthy recipe!

Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
Very soft and fluffy! I followed some earlier reviews and add one banana as secret ingredient, used 1 cup wheat flour and 1 cup all purpose flour and used only 1 and 1/2 cup sugar. I regret that one coz I did not find it too sweet. Will use the whole amount next time. And I thought the cake needed some more carrots. Maybe 3 1/2 to 4 cups? The walnuts gave it an awesome taste. I got a 9 inch cake and 12 muffins with this batter. Will definitely make this many times over inshaAllah. Thanks for the recipe.

Basboosa

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
I did not have coconut so I skipped that off. Did not have rose water at hand either so followed the idea of another member. Would prefer the rose water taste though. I used just 1 cup sugar for the syrup and it was still SO sweet. I thought the water was too much too... made the basboosa very moist. Perhaps would use only 3/4 cup water next time with maybe 1/2 cup sugar. Thanks for the recipe.

All American Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2006
Really tasty. Quite easy to make and I was quite skeptic since I was making an apple pie for the first time. But it was quite easy and has come out quite tasty. Like someone else said 6 apples are way too much ( I did not use fuji apples) I needed just 3 apples and they were quite enough. I did not have any problem with the baking time. Got done in 45 mts. I found it very sweet though, would probably reduce the sugar next time. Thanks .

Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2006
Thanks a lot for this recipe! Following earlier reviews, I used 1 cup whole wheat flour + 1 cup all purpose flour, 1 banana and 1 tsp of vanilla. The juice I made turned out to be 1 cup so I have used it all. At the end, I sprinkled a lil dermerara sugar on top of the muffins and they have turned out great. Crispy on top coz of the sugar and light, soft and fluffy inside. Thanks once again. Oh, by the way, it cooks too fast. Got done in 13 mts.
