Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I brought this for lunch in the office and everyone in our pantry loved it! It's my favorite among all the recipes that I've tried here.

Pasta with Tomato and Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
loved this! it did look kinda dry and pale when i tossed the pasta in but turned out to be very very flavorful. very minor alteration i made was i didn't remove the sauce from heat when i tossed in the pasta. then i mixed in the cheese to let it melt with the pasta. that way, the cheese kinda coated the pasta and made it more flavorful. yummy! i will definitely make this again.

Chili con Carne II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
i just tried this today and i must say this is really good. i've been craving for chili for a week now and this definitely hits the spot. the heat is just right too. i followed everything in the recipe (scaled down to 3 servings).before eating, i topped it with some cheese and tortilla chips and i think it's great! the only problem i had was since i couldn't find canned red kidney beans i used the raw ones. i soaked it for an hour but i didn't know that you were supposed to cook it first before using. i kinda thought since i soaked it already it would cook fine when i add them to the chili. so i ended up with semi raw beans. but since a lot of the reviews said this was better when served the next day, i just microwaved it the next day and the beans turned out ok. maybe another re-heating would make the beans the perfect soggy texture that i want. but overall, this recipe is great in itself. just a question though, what is that white sauce in the picture? cheese sauce?

Corn Cheese Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
i mistakenly opened a can of creamed corn instead of corn kernels so i searched for a recipe which uses creamed corn that required simple preparation. this i reduced the recipe yield to half since i only had 1 can of creamed corn. turned out very good. i'd probably reduce the flour next time since mine turned out a little too thick but flavors-wise it's good. i reheated some today and it became thicker. so i thought of topping it with some sour cream and using it as a nacho dip. very good too!

Party Frosting

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
I originally made this as cupcake frosting but it turned out too sweet and soft. Though I discovered that if you put it in the fridge after, it does sort of retain it's shape and develops a thin outer crust. Since it was too sweet, I ended up using only half of the recipe. Luckily, I also made a chocolate cake which was originally just a 1 layer cake with cream cheese frosting. So I decided to cut the cake in layers and used this in between the layers of chocolate cake and added some chopped nuts. Worked well too.

Egg-Free Dairy-Free Nut-Free Cake

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
I just made some cupcakes using this as a base recipe. I didn't have semi sweet chocolates and enough flour so I improvised. I only put 1 cup of flour since that's all the flour I had left. And I also used powdered mocha drink instead of semi sweet chocolates. I also reduced the water to half a cup since it was turning very liquid-y already while I was adding the water. The result turned out good! Topped it with a mocha cream cheese frosting. Yum! When I have all the ingredients on hand, I'll try it again sticking to the recipe.

Garlic Potatoes Gratin

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
I brought some of this for my lunch at work and ended up making another batch to bring to work the next day. Little changes I made: doubled the sauce recipe because I want my potatoes smothered. I also added some sauce per layer instead of just pouring it on top.

Cinnamon Apple Syrup

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2013
I just tried this. Followed it exactly. It turned out too liquidy so I added a bit more sugar hoping that it would caramelize a little and make it more syrupy. Then it became too sweet so I added more water. I was supposed to use it for pancake topping but since my apple to syrup ratio was now off, I just added it to oatmeal.
