Liver Pate

I had no clue how to make a pate but my friend is allergic to MSG and loooves pate! Apparently a lot of commercial pates contain MSG. So I found this recipe and gave it a shot.....enjoyed it, may spice it up a bit in future but a good recipe. Thank you, it made my friend very happy :-D

Beer Batter

Love how this uses commen household ingredients (yeah I always have beer haha). Omitted the garlic as I dislike it. DH actually did the work I just found the recipe for him and it turned out great. I live on Lake Erie and fish a lot so another way to make perch is always welcome, as is another reason to hget more beer LOL ;-) Thanks for posting this!

Baked Coconut Shrimp

I made this tonight, very good. Was glad to find a recipe that was not fried. Served with a homemade pina colada type sauce and a sweet chili sauce (for variety). Everyone loved it-thanks!!!

Crab Cakes

I made these finally. DELISH!!!! They don't hold together well but if you're patient they are worth it! Chilling them before dipping/breading helps a bit. Made a roasted red pepper aioli as I am not big on garlic....MMMMMM!

Calamari

Turned out well, next time I think I'll add a bit more spice to my taste, but the cooking time was bang on. I used frozen squid rings, next time I think I'll try fresh I have a feeling they will be much better.

Meat Pie (Tourtiere)

Used to have this as a kid in Quebec and decided to try my hand at making one. This recipe was perfect and we were happy with how it turned out-tasty and very filling! Didn't have cloves (and live a million miles from a store) so I just left them out but will add next time. This is a keeper, thanks!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

I love cooking but am not into baking so had no clue how to make a crust for a pot pie (I usually use a premade or even Pilsbury crescent roll dough on occasion). I found this recipe and followed it exactly. As soon as he dug in my husband remarked on how good and flaky the crust was and asked me what I did different. Saved this one, thanks for sharing.

I didn't like this much but I'll give it 4 stars in case it was my fault....it was possibly because I left the cheese off (have a cheese hater in the house)? In any case I love guacamole but wasn't too keen on this.

Cheese Souffles

Never made a souffle, this recipe was well written and turned out fantastic....I did not have individual ramekins so I used a pie plate and just baked it a bit longer til toothpick in center came out clean. One problem though-there wasn't enough!!!!! ;-)

Beef Sirloin Tip Roast

Quick and good-that always scores big with me. I also have a hard time seasoning meat as I'm not a big meat eater (DH is though). I am not a gravy fan either but loved this one...as did my man and our guest. We had it the next day as hot open faced sandwiches and we liked it even more. Thanks for sharing this will be a regular for me.

Pork Chops and Scalloped Potatoes

The meat and potatoes cooked well together but I just didn't find it very tasty, too bland for me and the gravy/sauce too thin. The Old Man liked it fine. A good base though for sure.....next time I'll customize it.

Rainbow Trout with Yogurt Sauce

I used this recipe with Arctic Char. I liked the flavour of the topping, but found it overpowered the fish a bit. Just my personal taste. I think I may add some cream cheese or something to the topping recipe, perhaps with green onions, and use it as a dip! Thanks for sharing.

Creamy Spinach Tortellini

Loved this...very nice. I added some roasted red peppers as I dislike tomato, and used more milk/less cream cheese to make it lower fat (taking a plate to a friend who has had heart issues). Next time I will follow the original creamy recipe- the calories full speed ahead ;-)

Salmon Steaks with Dill Sauce

I was actually looking for a nice dill sauce recipe for poached salmon filets, so I did not make the salmon part as directed, although I'm sure it would be great :-) I did make the dill sauce and we both thought it was awesome, I was wishing I had more fish just to eat the sauce! Ritzy Chicken Livers

I really liked these, they came out very tender! I also tried the same coating on calves liver another night, the only change I made was to soak the liver in milk for 1/2 an hour prior to coating and cooking. It turned out DELICIOUS! Thanks for sharing.

Cuban Goulash

My guy and my friend were going on about Cuba having the best pork. I've never been, so did a search for "Cuban pork" and decided to try this out. The combination intrigued me and sounded pretty off the wall! I used pork chops rather than a roast, and added cumin as someone here suggested. We all liked it-a lot! My friend is a Chef and it even passed her taste test. Thank you for posting this!
