Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
This was a wonderful soup and fits with the cold winter chill months starting to make their way towards us. I substituted the cabbage for zucchini and added two teaspoons of Indonesian Hot Pepper Sauce for some extra zing. Perfect!

Wonderful recipe! I have to say that I should have purchased some bigger sized scallops but small ones were fine! Bravo! So easy and delicious!

Tomato Sauce with Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
I have been with this site for two years now and NEVER have I felt compelled to give a recipe a bad review. I'm very sorry for having to do that now,... DO NOT follow this recipe exactly and be ready to do many changes! Way too much onions and garlic! I'm really happy I altered it and did not lose my ingredients!

Erin's Indonesian Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
I had company over and didn't know what to make since the visit had been unsuspected. I found and decided to make this little gem and it turned out terrific! I like things very spicy while my company didn't. This recipe kept us both happy although I will definitely add more hot paste next time. As others suggested, I will also make extra sauce. It is wonderful as left overs!!!! I didn't have any green peas but had a bag of mixed frozen veggies. I used that instead and it was fabulous!

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
I read many reviews before making this dish. One person scared me a little by saying that she had to throw it away! I decided to give this recipe a try anyways. The ham in this soup, unfortunately, overpowers most of the other tastes. I will probably try this again with more spices ( preferably some hot ones!)and use less ham. Maybe a combination of ham and chicken might be interesting. What about substituting the ham for the chicken altogether? This was a fair recipe that fills you up but greatly depends on taste. If you love ham, go for it! If not, try to tone it down a little,... I also cooked it in the slowcooker for a total of twelve hours to make sure that the lentils were well done.

Spicy Crab Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2006
I followed this recipe exactly but shouldn't have. It was a little too spicy for me and I do like hot dishes. I strongly recommend adding spices gradually.

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2006
This recipe boasts the 'best marinara sauce yet",... and it has lived up to its name. I know we always want to boost the flavour by making little changes. Please resist this temptation. Before making any change, make this recipe as is first. It is worth the taste. Later, if you want, make some changes. According to me no changes are warranted!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
Unfortunately, I did not have any linguini on hand and had to use spaghettini. I strongly do not suggest changing the pasta. This is truly a recipe best reserved for linguini or any other wide pasta and nothing else. I will try and use less lemon zest next time since I prefer a more 'shrimpy' taste than a 'lemony' one. This, of course, is just a personal taste though. This was an especially tasty recipe and one everyone should try!

Yummy Pork Chops

I liked this recipe, it was a nice change and very easy to prepare. I would recommend keeping an eye on the cooking time for thinner or leaner pieces of pork. Marinating the meat is a definite plus!

Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2006
My husband and I loved this recipe. I listened to many of the reviews and they all helped make our supper tasty so thanks to everyone! I doubled the flour but not the bouillon mixture. I should have because the chiken started to stick to the bottom by the end of the cooking period. I also floured then dipped then floured again so the mixture would not fall off the chicken when boiling. Lastly, refrigerated the chicken before frying it to cover all my bases. I don't know which suggestion helped the most. All I know, the chicken was scumptious!

Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2006
This recipe was very tasty but too powerful for my taste ( and I do like spicy food ). What is the taste of this recipe? HOT! Maybe, using all the pepper flakes was a bad idea. I recommend trying this recipe a little more on the mild side at first and then see what your taste buds can handle as "heat". Yes, this recipe could be very good if a little tamed.

Kona Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
I followed many suggestions found in the reviews to make this dish. I first reduced the cooking time in half because I was using chicken breasts and not a whole chicken. I also used 1/3 cup of soy sauce an 2/3 cup of honey in order to make sure the sauce was not too salty since I didn't have low sodium soya sauce on hand. I thickened the sauce after in a small sauce pan and served over rice. Of all the slow cooker chicken I have had so far... This one was the tastiest!

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
My husband and I liked this recipe. The chicken was a little bland so I will definately add extra spices next time. The sauce was a little runny but adding a little tomato paste did the trick. It was fabulous as a left over since the sauce thickened over night.
