Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
I fixed this for dinner last night. When trying a new recipe I always ask "Should I make this again?". This was squarely in the "Make Again" category. I basically followed the instructions. I was very liberal in the use of garlic powder and used Mrs. Dash's poultry seasoning instead of salt. I figure there was more than enough salt coming from the boullion cubes. I cooked the pork chops for about 6 hrs on low and they were fall-apart tender. I also ended up transfering the "gravy" mixture to a pot on the stove so it would thinking faster. I served it with boiled new potatoes and mixed veggies. It is great to find a recipe for the crockpot that doesn't rely on "cream of something" soup.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
Super-simple to make up and super-delicious! After cooking turkeys for nearly 30 years this is the first time I have brined a turkey. I made up the brine in about a half-gallon of water and brought it to a boil so all the ingredients would go into solution. After everything was dissolved I added cold water to bring the total volume to 2 gal. I also used Reynolds cooking bags to hold the brine. The turkey breasts were in the brine for about 24 hrs. We then cooked them with apple wood on our smoker. It was the best turkey we have ever made.

Turkey Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
In my husband's words: "It's a keeper". The entire family loved it. What a great way to use up the leftovers from a turkey dinner. I followed a couple of suggestions and mixed some gravy in with the turkey. I also minced the onion so it would cook better. I used frozen beans, cooking them slightly before adding them to the casserole. I mixed about 1/4 cup milk with the cream of mushroom soup so it would spread easier. I added some garlic powder (about 1/2 tsp.) to the top of the beans. Finally, I used less cheese, mixing about 8 oz. total shredded cheese into the potatoes. I cooked it over about an hour and everything was done perfectly.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
Let me add my voice to those who praise this recipe. It is the easiest, best tasting chili out there. I've been making it for years now. No other recipe compares. I make very few alterations to the basic recipe. I usually use a fresh salsa, a can of pinto beans instead of one of the cans of kidney beans and a full packet of seasoning from the "Carrol Shelby's" Texas Chili kit.

Wisconsin Bratwurst

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
Delicious! This is now the only way I prepare brats after finding this recipe. I have never poked holes in the brats, however. I also continue to cook the onions in the pan as the brats are on the grill. The onions are great on the brats, esp. if you are not a fan of sauerkraut.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
Delicious and easy to make! My whole family loved it. I will also use this topping on other fish. I think it would be great on halibut.
