I didn't really start to cook until five years ago when I got married. My husband is a vegetarian and I am a carnivore so dinner time can be tres tricky!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make things that are a fusion of Asian and Southern dishes. I love my peanut sauce with cajun shrimp and noodles. Oh yeah, and everything tastes better with a dash of Creole seasoning.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love baking in the winter! Cinnamon rolls were a specialty of my mom, and she still has to show me how to make her famous chocolate eclairs. SOOO good, your mouth will slap you!
My cooking triumphs
My foray into gourmet cooking! I love learning new techniques, and I've mastered my own pesto.
My cooking tragedies
There have been many but nothing can top forgetting to secure a blender lid.

Baked Potato Soup I
this was fabulous! I used 2 tbsp of butter, and a tablespoon of olive oil. Extra addings included tbsp of dill, tbsp dried onion flakes, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder. I also used 1 1/2 cups of vegetable stock instead of all milk to break down calories and it was still very rich. I also did a topping bar with bacon crumbles, shredded cheddar, onions and sour cream.

Creamy Butternut Squash With Cinnamon Soup
This was fantastic! I made it with a few variations though. I substituted fat free 1/2 and 1/2 for the regular, and added four tablespoons of butter instead of one to make it richer. Louisiana Cajun spice (just a 1/2 tblsp) and a dash of nutmeg made it delish!!!

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup
my husband is vegeatarian and I'm not, so finding recipes we'll both enjoy can be difficult. This was an amazing soup, it had full flavor and an intensely rich aroma. Not being a big fan of curry, I added another indan spice in place of it called gharam masala. This is a decadent soup, sure to please both palates!
