I am a married mom of three daughters. I took career prep chef training for 4 years in highschool, but instead of accepting a scholarship to a really good culinary arts school, I decided I didnt want to be married to the kitchen and instead, got married to a good man and had three kids. Sometimes I think "what could have been" but I wouldnt trade it for the world.
My favorite things to cook
Anything new! But my favorites would have to be my own burgers (done on the bbq). My turkey burgers are popular as are my meatballs. I have finnaly become a pro a cooking a perfect roast and my yorkshires are getting there lol Ive been told that I make the best potato skins as Im not chincy on the bacon and cheese lol. Oh and I cook a mean Eggs Benny
My favorite family cooking traditions
Its hardly anything to anyone else, but my mom has always made the BEST macaroni and cheese (the REAL stuff) with bacon and loads and loads of cheddar. Top it off with a topping of crushed corn flakes and more cheese....soooo good! Soooo easy! And something many of us ask for for our birthday dinners belive it or not!!!
My cooking triumphs
Since Ive got the "family" now and the house, everyone comes to my place for christmas dinners so Ive had to learn how to make a great turkey. May not seem that big of a deal, but anyone whos had to cook a turkey for 15 people for the first time, knows its a pretty big deal! Now its been almost 10 years and no ones been sick yet! LOL I recently made a super delicious Crab Stuffed Salmon. I wanted to do it with rice, but all the recipes weren't what I wanted, so I came up with my own, taking ideas from other recipes and OMG was it ever delicious!!!
My cooking tragedies
Hmmmm....thats a hard one.Ive had a few. Uusally its because of timing (Ive never been great with timeing) and something slightly burns. Ive never really really burnt anythin ( as in not edible) but Im always very dissapointed when something starts to burn because you can taste that, and it ruins the meal and its very discouraging to me argh! Oh and two years in a row, my garberator plugged and we had a "plumming incident" two christmases in a row...right as the turkey was coming out of the oven. We got a new garberator lol

Chocolate Ganache
Excellent!!! I made the One Bowl Chocolate Cake III from this site for the first time (which by the way is a delicious recipe!!)I didnt have enough bittersweet so I used 6oz bittersweet, 2 oz semi sweet. I covered with the ganache and then refridgerated. I whipped up the remaining into an icing (I would have to say I was skeptical it would whip up nicely but it did). Then topped the cake with dollops of whipped ganache with a strawberry in each one. Seriously, the whipped ganache was SOOOOOOO good...I rarely lick the mixer blades but today I did!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III
Seriously awesome recipe! There is not one thing wrong with this cake! I made it exactly as stated and it is the most moist chocolatey cake Ive ever made!!! I make a cake at least once a month for work bdays and this will be THE cake I make from now on!! Seriously awesome!!!
