Clam Sauce with Linguine

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
This recipe is good, I tweaked a bit according to personal pref's, added an addtl can of whole clams, omitted parsley, used enough reserved clam juice and milk to make 2 1/2 C, 4 T flour, 1 tsp italian seasoning or (1/4 tsp ea oregano, marjoram, basil) and 1 brick of cream cheese

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Even though most cornbread seems dry, I still love it. This however, is the moistest cornbread I've ever had! I think the buttermilk must be the secret ingredient. YUM!

Breakfast Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
This was so tastey! I'd been looking for something like this to please a crowd with ease. It's great! I think I used leftover ground turkey and fresh mushrooms that I actually had on hand. It's a wonderful forgiving recipe that really, you could add or take away from according to your pref and it's still great!

Ham Breakfast Braid

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Had company this past weekend, informal, & still this was impressive! So beautiful when complete, & so stinkin easy! I did add small onion, chopped and sauteed along with half grn bell pepper chopped and fresh mushrooms, made sure that they cooked long enough so juices absorbed, otherwise drain to avoid dough becoming mushy, used cheese I had on had, monterey jack, & my husband woke up the next day talkin bout yest's breakfast! Really, this could b played with, chorizo, or all veggie could work too. This will b kept close at hand, thanks :)

Barbecued Lima Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
Made these yesterday. YUM! I substitued dark molasses for the pancake syrup, as I have a tendency to prefer things less on the sweet side, and 1 tsp dry mustard for the hot sauce, had only 1/4 C ketchup on hand so added a 4 oz can of tomato sauce, PERFECT! And to my great surprise the husbamd loved them too! We'll make these often! Thanks for sharing!

Mini Sour Cream Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
I made these last night and boy are they good! And yes, a snap to make! Even though I did not have bisquick on hand. I used a simple substitution of 1 C flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt and 1 Tblspn crisco shortening. The combination of melted butter, shortening and sour cream make these absolutely delectable! My husband was convinced they had cheese in them and he loved them too! I'll go to this recipe often! Thanks for sharing!

Polenta with Rosemary and Parmesan

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
I love grits and polenta. This is a fantastic recipe! So easy and so yummy. The garlic and parmesan are wonderful additions. I used 3/4 tsp dried rosemary, and although I do like rosemary, it was still a bit too perfumey, next time I"ll try a little less or as previously suggested, omit all together. I bet this would be good sliced and fried in some butter the next day too!

Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
I made this recipe on Sunday and to my surprise my dogs love them! I did not follow recipe as what prompted me to make them is that I was out of the dogs regular "cookies" and didn't want to run to the store. I used flaxseed meal (had on hand) instead of wheat germ assuming it has the same healthful benefits for dogs as it does for peops. I took the suggestion from another reviewer and pressed the cookies with a fork rather than rolling and cutting them out. I also doubled the recipe. (Our dogs get rewarded alot!) Dough a bit sticky and would have required additional flour for rolling/cutting. Otherwise, fantastic recipe! I love knowing what's really gowing in my dogs tummies! I plan to wean my pups from the other .
