About this Cook
Four great kids with a variety of food interests. All four, ages 9 to 20, are pretty darn good cooks in their own right!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake....it's theraputic!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hosting Christmas Eve dinner at our house with my husband's family. I learned good home cooking techniques from my Grandmother and Mother. I still call my mother, who is 82, for cooking advice or for a favorite recipe. My kids and I carry on a tradition started by my mother.....holiday baking weekend! We spend an entire weekend making everything from homemade fudge and candies, to lady lock cookies and ice cream cake rolls! I always pack up holiday goodie baskets to give to friends and neighbors. They always anxiously greet me at their doors on delivery day!!
My cooking triumphs
When my husband, who adores pecan pie, proudly informed everyone at our first Christmas Eve dinner, that I made the most perfect, delicious pecan pie he had ever eaten. My mother-in-law still asks for my "secret".

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce
Great sauce! One tip I learned from my Mother, who is an AWESOME cook....anytime you are cooking for someone who doesn't 'care for' vegetables in their sauces, simply puree them and mix into the sauce or casserole...they're none the wiser but still get the nutrition from those 'invisible' vegetables. My mother did this all the time with onions and peppers, as my brother 'hated' them...but always cleaned his plate, none the wiser!
