Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Delicious and easy! I baked my ham according to the package directions and basted every 10 minutes for the last half hour. This was the first time I glazed a ham and it couldn't have been easier. Thank you for sharing!!

Herbed Twice-Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I had made potato skins a few nights ago and was looking for a recipe to use the pulp with. I did double the chives and added a dollup of sour cream. Instead of stuffing back into the skins, I baked them in sprayed muffin cups as directed. Was very good! My husband and I loved them. My five year old daughter ate them, but I don't think she was too excited about them. However, my eight month old son thought they were great. Thanks for the recipe!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Yummy! I did add a sliced onion to the sauce and let it simmer all day. About an hour before I was ready to serve, I removed the chicken and shredded it. I mixed it back into the sauce and let it simmer for the final hour. Then served on rolls with potato salad. Some of the leftovers will be frozen, and some will go on top of a BBQ chicken pizza. Thanks for the recipe!

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
This got rave reviews all around. I was looking for a way to use up some red delicious apples when I stumbled upon this recipe. I used three red delicious and two gala apples (mine were small apples, so I used one more than the recipe called for). Since I used a sweeter apple, I cut the sugar down the aprox and 1/8 of a cup. I used an immersion blender instead of a fork/potato masher to save a little time. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!

Double-Cheese Eggs Benedict

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This was really good. Hit the spot as I was craving Eggs Benedict. Thank you for the directions to poach the eggs, it was my first attempt and they came out perfect! My husband didn't care for the poached eggs tho, but said he would eat this again if I used a fried egg instead. Thanks for sharing!

Chocolate Sandwich Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I did use egg substitute and also used non fat vanilla yogurt in place of the oil. (just a caution, if you use the yogurt, the mixture is way too moist to roll, even after refrigerating. I molded it between two spoons and dropped on a parchment covered cookie sheet) I made chocolate with a canned vanilla frosting that I dyed yellow for the Steelers. I also used white cake and a canned cherry frosting for the Cardinals. These were a huge hit a the Super Bowl party I attended both with the kids and the adults. I will be making again and experimenting with different flavors. Thanks for the recipe!

Bar Stool Pretzels

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Had pretzels similar to these at a party we attended over the summer. I made mine with the thick sourdough pretzels broken into pieces and 1/2 cup of butter. I might try with a thinner pretzel next time. I did use the plastic bag method mentioned in other reviews to mix, but I think that next time I will put in a mixing bowl to see if the butter mixture distributes a little more evenly. Good recipe - thank you.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
These were different, but in a good way! I usually roast my potatoes in butter with garlic powder and black/red pepper, so the sweet taste of these was a wonderful change. Next time I make them, I will reduce the butter by half, but otherwise, no changes. Thank you for sharing!

Crunchy No-Fry Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I really liked the healthy alternative to this baked chicken recipe by using the chicken stock instead of eggs. I used turkey tenders (as that was what I had in the freezer) and made turkey fingers instead of the cutlets. The only suggestion I have is to flip the meat about half way through so it doesn't get soggy on the bottom.

Doughnut Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
This was actually pretty good. I don't care much for the "soggy" bread in bread pudding, but I didn't mind the donuts for some reason. I used plain cake donuts, eliminated the almond extract which I did not have and I used Craisins instead of raisins. I combined it all before I left for work and baked it when I got home. This really would have been great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!! Thanks for sharing!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
As written (minus the raisins thanks to my 5 year old) this recipe is really good. The second time I made it, however, I made a few changes that made these outstanding. I substitued pumpkin for the oil and craisins for the raisins, reduced the brown sugar a little bit, and added about 1/4 tsp of pumpkin pie spice. I will definately be making these granola bars with different variations again and again. Thanks for sharing!!!

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This was very good!! I changed a couple of things to make it a little healthier - I cut the chicken into tenders and baked them instead of frying. I also reduced the oil a little and only used 1/2 tsp of red pepper because of DD. My husband said it wasn't spicy enough however. Although everyone agreed I should make this again!! Thanks for sharing.

Pam's Bierocks

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I messed something up and my dough did not rise. It had a good flavor, but was very flat....I'm sure it was me tho and not the recipe. I did use a package of cole slaw mix in place of the cabbage and as others suggested added some flavoring...worch sauce, paprika, and simmered it in vegetable broth. It was still lacking a little flavor, but nothing a little black/red pepper wouldn't cure. Froze the leftovers for another meal. I will be trying this again. Thanks for sharing!

Grilled Ginger-Peanut Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
My DH and DD both loved this. I thought it had a rather strong ginger taste, but it was still good. I used pork chops instead of the tenderlion, and omitted the curry (for personal reasons). When I make this again, I think I will increase the peanut butter a little, but won't mess with the rest of the ingredients due to the rave reviews. Thanks for sharing!

Peanut Mallow Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I was looking for a bar cookie recipe that didn't have chocolate. This certainly fit the bill. I had trouble spreading the batter for the crust as it was very thick, but otherwise the cookie bars were very quick and easy to make. I did use 1/3 cup of honey as I ran out of corn syrup. Everyone loved them and I will definately be making these again. Thanks for sharing!!!

Simple, but delicious. I would never have thought to put this together. I did use roasted asparagus and dijon mustard instead of prepared yellow. Thank you for sharing!!

Red Potato Salad with Sour Cream and Chives

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I like the yogurt and sour cream mixture, but it was a little bland even after I added some dried dill. Next time I will increase the amount of salt and pepper. Thanks for sharing!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
Yummy! I used 1/2 c almond flour and 3/4 c ap flour. I substituted almond milk for regular milk. Unfortunately I didn't have an hour to wait, so after 30 minutes I put them on the griddle. They smelled wonderful and tasted better! Next time I will add the blueberries while they are on the griddle instead of in the mix. My only complaint is that the recipe says it makes six servings, but I only got 13 smaller sized pancakes. Easy to fix, I'll just double it next time. Thanks for sharing.

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
I am rating this recipe a solid 5. Although I did make some changes to satisfy my tastes, the recipe is a very solid and tasty recipe on it's own. Don't be afraid to experiment with different fruits, spices, and substitues as I did. You won't be sorry. Thanks for sharing!!
