About this Cook
Some of my best childhood memories are the ones of being in the kitchen with my mother and sister. Now I am 27 yr old nurse about to get married. My beloved is a picky eater but less and less are on his 'Do not like' list. They main item on that list is Veggies.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is dinners. Items worthy of quest or just the two of us. I also love entertaining. I am also trying very hard to make a recipie more healthy or low fat. I love finding a new recipie and trying it out and I have a particular fondness for one dish dinners.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family cooking has changed a lot over the years. My stepfather is Chinese and know wonderful, authentic recipies. I love asian food. My fiance loves Mexican. My father is Southern and cook southern too. There is always bacon grease avalible to grease a pan.
My cooking triumphs
Recently my cooking triumphs are dinners that my fiance enjoys. Luckily he has many favorites. The most recent is a Jambalya, which was found on, and a healthy lasagna that is my own recipie and I am considering submitting it to
My cooking tragedies
My cooking tragedies do still happen, most recent being last night. I find that when I go off the cuff and don't have a recipie to go from the end result is not favorable. Also when I feel rushed, and I can not take my time and enjoy the cooking experiance the end product will show it.

German Chocolate Bars
I was going to make this for a potluck the other night, but didn't have enough time to get the few ingredients I was missing. When I got home I assessed what I did have and it somewhat resembled this recipe. However, everyone loved what I made, so I felt compelled to add it. Instead of a Cake mix, I used a Brownie mix. I followed the directions on the box, using 2 eggs instead of one, for a more cake-like brownie. I used about 3/4 can of the sweetened condensed milk and about 1/2 c of Peanut butter, heated on med in a saucepan. In the baking dish I layered 1/2 the brownie mix, then the peanut butter mixture, some shredded coconut and pecans. Then the remaining brownie mix. After it came out of the oven I drizzeled the remaining condensed milk. They were so good! Everyone loved them! I will still try out this recipe as written one day, it just sounds too good not to!

Strawberry Pretzel Salad
I took this to a potluck last night. It got wonderful reviews. Plus it was very easy! I did allow it to 'rest' in the fridge after the cream cheese layer. Truth is I got busy and couldn't finish it right away. After about 1 hr, I had the time to add the Jello layer. Loved it! Thank you for the recipe!

The Ultimate Pasta Salad
I love this recipe, esp since we all have oil and vinegar on hand. I also added diced up Salami. I like to get it sliced extra thick from the deli and dice it at home. Same with the pepperoni. It gives it a great meaty taste that my husband loves!
