I just wanted all my friends on allrecipes.com to know my daughters baby didn't make it.  I really wanted to know the feeling of being a grandpa too.  My daughter has to go in for a (DNC) what ever that is, at 5:00 AM in the morning.  I just wanted you all to know.

I am so sorry to here this Jim. I feel your pain because my step-son and daughter-n-law just lost her baby girl 3 days before she was to deliver in Nov 2012. My prayers and thoughts are with you..

Jim, I just joined these blogs so do not know you. But I hope you don't mind me sending you thoughts and prayers for you and your family. There can be no solace found in words, I know. Both of my sisters have had miscarriages and nothing could take away the grief and feelings of loss. Recently though, one of my sisters told me that had she not had her first miscarriage, she would not have the son she has today. It's no trade-off, I know, but every time we look at him we are just so grateful he came into this world. I hope, when your first grandchild comes, it will bring your family all the love and joy only a new life can bring. Until then, my deepest sympathy for your loss. -Lara

Jim, my first granddaughter was stillborn, so I understand your pain, please just hold your daughter close as she needs the comfort that you can give her. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I lost a pregnancy/baby decades ago. I was heart broken, my parents were heart broken. I had a DNC and two months later was pregnant again. I carried the baby full term (he just turned 34 yesterday!). I remember my parents being there for me and what a help that was. Looking back on it now though I realize no one was comforting them. My daughter went through the same experience and I was so sad, sad for her and sad for me too. So, it's alright to be sad but I know from experience that things will turn and in a year from now I hope there will be a post from you about the joys of being a Grandpa. Until then love each other a lot and day by day things will feel better.

About Me
I am a easy going guy who is always busy. Yes ladys and gents I don't have time for TV. During the winter months I am either hunting or most likely helping down at the church. During spring I am working on repairs outside and getting my hotbox ready for the garden. Summer and fall I am busy canning and freezing what comes out of my garden. I also cook all the meals for the day or event.
My favorite things to cook
I have to thank my mother for this. She broke her ankle when I was 10 years old, and there is where I learned to cook. I am nothing compared to my mother,(she is a true Chef), can make a delicous dish from scraps in the refigerator. Anyhow, I make a lot of bread type, deserts, nationalities.
My favorite family cooking traditions
You most likely won't like this. As a youngster we used to have family reunions and get togethers all the time. We would all go fishing and have a fish fry, and the ladys would bring side dishes and of corse desserts. That has gone now because America is to busy.
My cooking triumphs
Everything I have ever done has been great. I always end up with a empty dish.
My cooking tragedies
None: My daughter burnt popcorn;;; how do you burn popcorn? She said I did it, thats my girl.
