Very good! we used white beans instead of black beans, as another reviewer suggested. Also replaced the cumin with red curry. It was overall a great soup and i would definitely make it again! thanks for sharing!

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
This was fabulous! I followed this exactly, and was thoroughly impressed. Then, because i like veggies in with my pasta, i sauteed mushrooms, garlic, zuchinni, and broccolini together and threw it in with the pasta and chicken at the end. YUM! My husband said i could make this ANYTIME! :D

Shepherd's Turkey Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
i really enjoyed this variation. So much healthier with the turkey. I actually used beef broth in with the potatoes because i already had it open. I think it gave it a darker taste, which i actually preferred. I also took the reviewers suggestions and used a pkg of frozen mixed veggies and also put the cheese and egg wash on top of the potatoes. (i would have used cauliflower mixed with the potatoes if i had cauliflower on hand, which i didnt. it definitely is an awesome mix together when done though. Would definitely make this style shepherd's pie again. Thanks for sharing!

Chinese Chicken Casserole Surprise

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
this recipe, as is, would only get a 2 from me. I modified it alot, and it's...still just ok. i read all the posts about it being too bland, and that's my biggest fear in food--TOO BLAND??? so, i added crushed red pepper, a chili pepper sauce, and lots of ginger & garlic. I would have liked to add some OJ to the mix and i think it would have taken away from the "brothy-soy" flavor. I was really hopeful about this recipe, and when i finally tasted it with all my mods, i would have to say it tasted like chinese stew. Neither good nor bad. I wouldn't call it a casserole either. So...if you decide to make this, be prepared to expound upon this recipe....ALOT.

Quick and Easy Mexican Beef Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
This was very good! I used it as a base recipe and made the following changes, based on other reviews: -1 1/2 lbs ground turkey instead of beef. -used about 2 cups of beef broth -1 lg red onion -1 12oz bag of frozen corn -1 jalapeno (de-seeded. I like my food spicy, but i didn't want my husband's mouth to be on fire!) -only 1 can of crushed tomatoes -and because i'm not a big fan of kidney beans, i used 1 can of black and 1 of pinto. i will top this with sour cream, cheese, and green onions...and maybe a little jalapeno! :) YUM thanks for this recipe--its a great variant from my normal chili recipe. would definitely make again.

Pecan Pie Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
These are fabulous! Way better than the pie version in my opinion. I halved the recipe as well, since i didn't need 72 bars :). We used organic sugar and brown rice syrup as substitutes, and it came out great. A little on the sweet side for me, so i would decrease the sugar for my own preference, but most people would probably find it the perfect sweetness.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Great Recipe! And i always use soymilk or almond milk as a substitute--comes out great! We've been using white rice flour alot and it also worked great as a sub, along with organic sugar. To spice it up a bit, we added some nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and at the end placed in some unsweetened coconut flakes. YUM!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
These were fantastic! I used half rice flour and half regular, and they were still incredibly fluffy (and we did sift the flour as well). I also substituted vanilla soy milk for the regular milk, and organic sugar for the regular sugar. All in all, this is my new pancake recipe...so fluffy and quick!!!

Baklava

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This was outstanding! My mom and i made this together. We made a couple of adjustments, because our families don't eat a whole lot of sugar and fat. Here were our adjustments: instead of 1 c. of butter, we used a little less than one stick (1/2 c.) butter, 1/2 c. honey, 1/2 c. sugar. We also layered about 5 layers of phylo dough--got it at Publix, which enabled us to make 2 9x13 pans of baklava. final note: watch the baklava in the oven, as ours only needed about 25-30 minutes (not the suggested 50) before it started turning really crispy and brown on top--perfect! We had SO MANY people compliment on how they normally don't like baklava because it's entirely too sweet and rich and how this was just plain ADDICTING and more enticing! And it wasn't nearly as fatty! Enjoy and hope this helps.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
This recipe was absolutely awesome! I used DISHDISH's recommendations for the topping, and additionally I chopped up some walnuts to sprinkle in with it. I also mixed a little powdered sugar and a splash of cream together to make a drizzle for the top of the cake. Delicious! Thanks for this winning recipe!
