Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I've made this soup twice, exactly to recipe, and I just find it ok, not outstanding. It's filling, but not what I was expecting with all the 5-star ratings.

Brown Rice Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
Surprised at how good this was. Did not have any almonds, and used left over bagged slaw mixture in place of carrots & cabbage. Also added broccoli instead of zucchini! Good stuff!

Sweet Party Mix

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
This was just "ok" to me. I made it exactly as directed with the exception of adding M&M's. I was really hoping for something outstanding but it didn't deliver to us.

Alice Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
Really good and really easy. I had thick chicken breasts (and a new oven) and 5 minutes each side was perfect. Only marinated for about 45 minutes and the flavor was there but not too strong. Chicken came out very moist. Served with a spinach salad.

Fresh Spinach Salad

Um....YUM! No water chestnuts, added mushrooms. So so good! Next time will try with Splenda to cut the calories some.

The Meatball that Fell Off the Table

Reviewed: May 6, 2008
Made exactly to recipe. Kids liked, husband said it was so-so, I hated. I am a meatball snob though. I thought the gravy of plain canned mushroom soup was bland.

Ronaldo's Beef Carnitas

Reviewed: May 6, 2008
Maybe I should have doubled the ingredients as others have suggested, but I had a 3 pound chuck roast instead of a 4 pound so I used the ingredients as listed and found it somewhat bland. I made it in the crockpot, wrapped in foil (no need to add extra liquid - it's plenty juicy enough).

Upside Down Chicken Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
I made the recipe exactly as stated, no alterations. Thought it was a little bit bland, and very oily. I just read through it to make sure I didn't make a mistake and I don't think I did. Won't be making this again.

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
I've made these twice. First was exactly to recipe, and they were a bit bland but still good. I let them sit in simmering sauce for an hour and they were extremely moist and didn't taste like turkey. The second time I added the suggested spices and they were much better!

SO good! I made these with beef stew (Beef Stew VI from this site) and the combination was GREAT.

World's Best Lasagna

Excellent but yes, very salty. Cut it in half or use salt-free tomatoes.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
It was good but I don't think the "best ever." I used rotisserie chicken, low-sodium broth and cut the amount of salt added in half and it was still a bit salty (and we love salt here.) It is very good for how quickly it comes together.

Cajun Pasta Fresca

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
Very good, very fast & very fresh tasting. Definitely a keeper as written. The only comment: I cut the recipe in half from the 8 original servings and what we got didn't even make 3 normal adult servings.

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
Outstanding - so much better then microwaving, although I'm usually short on time so do microwave for about 5 minutes, roll in oil & kosher salt and then bake at 350 for 45 minutes or so. Having a baking sheet on the rack below the potatoes is a MUST. Also, rub some of the salt off before serving to make it a bit less messy.

Quick Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
Gave it a high rating because it matches the description. Better then I expected and pretty fast (dinner on the table in 30.) Excellent for when the pantry is low. I followed the recipe, excluding the bell pepper and it was very good.

Lemon Zucchini Bread

Really good but a tad bit dry - and my 7 year old who will not eat any veggies actually loves it. The lemon adds a good flavor to it.
