Sour Cream Chicken Paprika

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
We pretty much followed the recipe but added some chopped garlic, sliced mushrooms and about 1/4 cup white wine, only used half the chicken stock, increased the flour and butter to 2 tablespoons each. The consistency was perfect! Served over noodles -- excellent!

Spaghetti Sauce III

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2006
Thanks Angie- We happen to like the "tomatoe-y" taste, I used both sliced and diced tomatoes from jars. Also fresh garlic and mushrooms with a splash of red wine. We didn't feel it needed the extra paste, though. It came out very fresh and Italian tasting. Next time I think I'll try using fresh herbs and see what happens.

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2006
My husband and I loved this - I, too left out the raisins. Very easy and delicious, comes out perfect if you make sure it sits a while. We'll make this year round, and especially next time company's over.

Beef Tips

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2006
This was excellent, considering all the mixed reviews. We followed the recipe as stated, except added fresh mushrooms and garlic to the meat and onions, and omitted the extra salt. Also used leftover london broil for the meat. Served over egg noodles, it was wonderful. Thank you.

Margie's Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
These were just perfect, followed the recipe exactly, was a little leery of all that vinegar, but glad that I used it. I served with basmati rice, and my husband is still raving. The pork chops came out moist and tender, even after an hour in the oven, uncovered. Can't wait to show off with this recipe for company!

Baked Havarti Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This turned out perfectly, well worth the effort. Cooked in the convection oven and the chicken came out perfectly moist and a bit crispy. We liked it just out of the oven even before I added the mushrooms, pepper & cheese. This is perfect for a company "show-off" dinner.

Hungarian Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2006
I used half tomato sauce and half ketchup, tripled the worcestershire and paprika, no problem browning the chops dipped just in the flour, also no problem here adding the sour cream along with the other ingredients. I think the trick is to make sure the heat is on low. The pork chops turned out very tender and flavorful, we served over egg noodles. Also browned some onion and garlic along with the chops, seemed to help enhance the other flavors.

Chinese Noodle Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2006
If only I had cooked the noodles first, like the others did, this would have been great.

Portuguese Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
This was really good, but like the others I found that the sauce was a little too thin- I used about a tablespoon of corn starch mixed with a little water to thicken at the end. I also used fat free half & half instead of cream, which may have kept it from thickening. I made no other changes to the recipe, and we loved it!

Pennsylvania Coal Region Barbecue

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2006
Really good, my husband is from the Pittsburgh area and wasn't familiar with this concoction. Could use some spicing up (maybe more mustard).

Sensational Steak Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
This was wonderful, I even used leftover london broil that had been indirect-grilled. I just heated it up in the broth mixture and served on hoagie buns. The horseradish/mustard mix was perfect to us, and we loved the dipping sauce. Thank you!

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
We loved this - very close to what we used to order at a neighborhood Italian restaurant. I used ziti (cause that's what I had) and grilled turkey It. sausage, cut into chunks, I didn't have crushed tomatoes, but diced along with tomato sauce worked beautifully. Thanks so much, I look forward to doing this again, and following the recipe exactly!

Dijon Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
These turned out wonderful! My husband is a mashed potato snob, and just loved these. I would add less milk next time, though, or adjust when mashing. Thanks so much for sharing!

Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff, Aussie Style

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
What a great alternative to traditional beef stroganoff, off-hand it seems that it's a switch from paprika to curry, and sour cream to regular cream. We followed the exact recipe, except used fat free half & half. It made the sauce a little thin, but just wonderful anyway! Thanks Rosemary!

Braciola II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
What a wonderful sauce! We used top round instead, and added bread crumbs and parm/romano to the meat roll, but other than that, followed exactly. This just turned out perfectly, and we were going crazy with the good smells throughout the house. This is a great one to impress your friends and family!

Tuna Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
I'm giving this only a "4 star" rating, because I'm not much of a tuna casserole freak - however, my husband absolutely loved this and said it reminded him of old time deli tuna melts (he gives it a 5+). This also was great leftover!

Sauerbraten Klopse (Sauerbraten Meatballs)

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
We really enjoyed these, everything was going perfect until I added the flour/water mixture, it didn't seem to break down like it should. I consider myself a "sauce queen" and sort of expected trouble from thickening the sauce that way. Maybe the temp wasn't high enough; anyway this recipe is well worth the trouble to figure out a minor detail like this!
