My name is Sasha and my love for cooking began when I was 15 years old in a Culinary Arts class I took to escape "basketball", unfortunately I almost failed the class, but it awoke my love for good cuisine and cooking. My grandmother was an excellent cook, so I learned many tricks and recipes from her, and now I live in France which has opened my palate even further.
My favorite things to cook
French, Vegetarian, Southern, Creole.. I am in love with spices. I used to open the caps of my mother's spices and test myself on just the smell. I love to cook with spices, so it's given I like a lot of diverse cuisines.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Southern and creole is a big tradition in my family, so I love the big plates of rice and red beans, the thick cornbread, bittersweet collard greens; it's home for me.
My cooking triumphs
I've triumphed over vegetarian cuisine and now I am perfecting my French method... which is tedious and difficult- but always results in perfection. I am known to make the best: Steak & Potatoes, Chicken Butter Curry and Beef Stew.
My cooking tragedies
I. Can. Not. Bake. Sweets. Even if my life depended on it. The oven is always too high, there is not enough mixture, I somehow mis-measured the ingredients...
I can always turn a perfect quiche lorraine or even make a gratin that is fabulous, but cookies and cakes? Out of the question.
