My favorite things to cook
Pasta and fish dishes. Mostly because every Wednesday and Friday the farmer's market brings fresh fish. Nothing beats fresh fish. Yummmmm.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Halloween and Fat Tuesday my mom makes homemade gumbo from Paul Bourdon's cajun cookbook. Because of this, I find the craving for some good gumbo around that time of year. Also, every New Year my mom cooks up some black eyed peas, which is a southern tradition to facilitate good luck for the new year.
My cooking triumphs
I made a savory soufle when I was 14, and they came out amazing. They didn't fall or tasted terrible.. They were simply amazing. Therefore, this gave me a surge of confidence to keep cooking for funsies and as a necessity.
