Snow storm in DC
About this Cook
I lived in Washington DC for four years, travelling extensivly, eating everywhere. After returning to my home country Germany in 2003, I found that my time in the States had not only left me with a new husband, but also a new appreciation for all kinds of food (believe me, okra is quite unknown in large parts of Europe). I had started to cook for guests before I came to the U.S., I had won my huband's heart (okay, his stomach) with a dish of oven-barbecued shrimps - now, in Germany, I began to cook on an everyday basis. And I'm enjoying it more everyday.
My favorite things to cook
Cajun and turkish food. And the best adopted holiday ever - Thanksgiving lets me cook all the turkey I can fit in my tiny oven.
My cooking triumphs
Thankgiving turkey. Americans cannot imagine how difficult it is to cook a 16 pound turkey in a standard German oven. And making German apple cake pie a tradition at my friend's Thanksgiving feast.
My cooking tragedies
Fajitas. I managed to cut the steak wrong - you could have used the fajitas for soles.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes
Super pancakes, but... you'll need to at LEAST double the batch if you're cooking for more than 3 people (and aren't planning to serve a lot of other breakfast food). They turned out very moist and light, great texture and taste! We used fresh berries.
