About this Cook
i am married to a wonderful hubby and a proud mommy of 3 beautiful little girls. i love to cook for people to enjoy! i always look forward to gatherings to make something special that i don't make on a normal day.
My favorite things to cook
anything italian and comfort food. i LOOOOVE the recipe on here for "the world's best lasagna" and at least once a month i make "catherine's spicy chicken soup". EVERYONE that has tried it has asked me for the recipe. i am trying to cook healthier too so we have been using a lot of ground turkey in place of red meat and all recipes has helped me a lot with that!
My favorite family cooking traditions
i always make the stuffing for the holdays! (i use the easy slow cooker stuffing recipe from this site) and my hubby is an expert at deep frying our turkey! and the holiday apple pie.....grandma ople's apple pie from here also! and the holiday pumpkin butter pumpkin pie from this site too! all recipes makes my holidays!
My cooking triumphs
i am pretty surprised when i first started learning how to cook (by myself) i made homemade manicotti and even made the noodles from scratch. my in-laws raved about it and it still surprises me today how good that actually came out back then.
My cooking tragedies
where do i start?! i have burnt cookie after cookie. i completely RUINED my daughter's first birthday cake. (luckily i had cupcakes for back up) i tried making up some crazy meatloaf and my husband wouldn't even eat it (and he doesn't let food go to waste EVER) i have made some pretty bad burgers (i never thought that was possible)and the WORST of all is the pot roast i tried to make!!! i felt HORRIBLE throwing away such a large piece of meat but we tried so hard to smother it with gravy, put it in sandwiches, and so on and nothing was edible. it took me a few days of trying to finally just give up on it. (that's what i get trying to wing it without even looking at other recipes)

Sweet Restaurant Slaw
This is a great recipe! BUT....i do agree with the other reviews that the sugar should be cut in half and the dressing is too soupy for the recommended amount of slaw mix. SOOO....i shred up a small cabbage head and grate up a few carrots myself. This makes a lot more mix and I keep the recommended dressing mix the same except for cutting the sugar in half. IT'S SOOO GOOD!

Simple Scones
My neighbor made these and they were awesome! i asked her for the recipe and was amazed at how easy these were to make. i followed the reviews and used a food processor. WOW! i don't even bake and these were perfect! i did cut them smalled (pretty much did 16 slices instead of 8) and i only baked them for 10 minutes. PERFECTION!!!!! i also did a glaze on top and loved them. tried the blueberry lemon and cranberry orange....can't wait to try more combinations!

Spicy Chipotle Turkey Burgers
My hubby and i LOOOVE this burger! we cook it in a cast iron skillet and instead of chipoles i use the chipotle salsa (it's essentially the adobo sauce with the chipotles pureed in it and it costs less) that way the heat blends throughout the burger. we put a fried egg on it and top it with salsa verde on a pretzel bun to soak it all up! yum yum yum....drool!!!
