Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Excellent! We didn't have sweet relish so my husband used dill relish and a scant Tbs. of white sugar. Yum! We ate it right away and it was pretty good, but after it set about 5 hours....it was PERFECT!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
This recipe trumped my grand-mother's recipe. I did make one slight modification...I cook it in a cast iron skillet and reduce the sugar a to about 1/2 c. This recipe made me giggle when I first read it. The first part tells you to work in a skillet and then pour into a baking dish. I immediately knew this was an OLD recipe and should have been cooked, stove-top, in a cast iron skillet and then transferred into the oven to bake. It is a light, sweet old-fashioned yummy recipe! My family loves it so much that I have to double the recipe and make two batches at the same time!!

Unbaked Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
In our family this has become know as my daughter's cookies. She is 10 and has been making these by herself for several years. They are quick and easy! She made them for our church Thanksgiving and one of the older men had several and said they tasted just like the cookies his mom used to make. When his mother passed away, the recipe had been lost in their family!

Mrs Espy's Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
This is my families favorite enchilada sauce and it's so easy to throw together. I don't use alot of sauce on my enchiladas so I have enough left over to stick in the freezer for the next batch!

This was an awesome pie. I had never had a blackberry pie and happened to have a bucket of blackberries needing a purpose. This has been added to my family cookbook!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
This taco seasoning is over the top! My four year old son mixed it together to give as Christmas gifts(he kept calling it Taco Susan!) and it was a huge hit. My husband raves everytime I cook with it. I will never make a different recipe!

Apple Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
All I can say is....Oh my stars. This cake was light and fluffy and VERY moist. I am not sure how the few reviewers that gave critical reviews ended up with a dry cake. My only alteration for the next time around is adding more apples. It is a WONDERFUL recipe. Thank your grandma for sharing!! Blessings.

No Fail Pie Crust III

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
This was AWESOME! My husband dreaded my pie crusts but this was sooo flaky. I used two for pies at Thanksgiving and used the other two balls for turkey pot pie the next day!! Goes well with sweet pies or main course meals!

White Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2007
This cake was VERY moist and quite tasty. I will probablly try to make the icing substituting vanilla for the almond extract or switch them in the cake. It was a bit more almond than my family likes. But, WOW, I am from Texas and love this alternative to the normal Chocolate Sheet cake. Thanks!

Rolled Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2007
I have to say...in my family we always do drop dumplings. However, because I have small kids rolled dumplings seem to work better. This recipe is awesome. My husband said it was the best chicken and dumplings I have ever made!!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
I have been baking this bread for a while and hands down....this is the only recipe for me. It is so good that I shared it with two other of my friends and it is their exclusive bread recipe, too! One of them cuts the sugar to 1/2 cup....but, as for me, it's perfect just the way it is. It is the first homemade bread recipe I have found that actually compared to Mrs. Bairds!
