Jeanne's Chocolate Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
These are so so YUMMY! Soft and fudgy in the middle. I used Candy Cane Kisses, they added a great minty flavor and made a very pretty cookie.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
As a mother of a little one with peanut allergies I have really missed peanut butter cookies. Then I decided to try this recipe but instead of using peanut butter I used sunflower seed butter. I just have to say that it was such a good substitute, it tasted so similar but delicious in its own way. I highly recommend trying it!!!

Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
Very tasty! Made a few changes based on what I had on hand and still turned out great. I used kale instead of cabbage, red bell pepper instead of green, and red onion- made it very colorful. Also at the end I added two cans of cannellini beans.

Beef Samosas

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
These were excellent!!! I followed the recipe exactly EXCEPT I used egg roll wrappers instead of phyllo dough because I don't care for phyllo dough. I just put 2 tbsp of the filling into each egg roll wrapper and wrapped it up like a regular egg roll and fried them about 3-4 minutes flipping half way through. I ended up using about 1 and a half packages of wrappers (made around 30 total samosas). To save time I made the filling the night before while making a quick dinner, refrigerated it and added the cilantro and chilies the next day, wrapped and fried them. We tried a variety of dipping sauces that we had in the fridge and found that dipping them in light sour cream tasted really great. I think it was well worth the time and effort. Will make again.

Kraut Bierocks

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
We absolutely LOVED these!! Super easy to make especially since I used the bread machine to make and rise the dough. I did make one change, I decided to use beer bratwurst (casings removed before browning with beef) instead of italian sausage and it was so yummy! Will definitely make again and again. I made 16 bierocks with that amount of dough and once cooked with meat in the middle they came out to be the size of a regular hamburger bun, just right for holding. I did have a small bowl of meat mixture left over.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
Love this slaw!!! The whole family loves it, even the kids. I tweak mine a little bit- use 1/4-1/3 cup sugar, and black pepper instead of poppy seeds. Delicious!!

Everybody loved this pie! One thing I would change is maybe adding a little less sugar to the apples. I will definitely serve this again.

Indian Vegetable Bhaji

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
My family and I loved this. I used dry ginger, broccoli instead of cauliflower (because I didn't have it) and used extra ground cumin since I didn't have cumin seeds either, and used canned chopped green chile peppers instead of fresh and it all turned out really well. I also sprinkled a little salt on it in the end. Will definitely make again but will try to stick closer to the original recipe next time and I'm sure it will be even better.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
So delicious it surprised me. I used an Indian blend of chicken curry masala spices in place of the spices used in the marinade, in equal amount to the sum of all the spices called for. I did not alter the tomato cream sauce. It worked out wonderfully. Will definitely make this again and again.

Easy Pavlova

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
Absolutely wonderful!!! Took it to a picnic and got rave reviews from the ladies. I followed the directions exactly and used strawberries along with the kiwi. Very easy to whip up but does take a long time to cook and cool off so make the time, it's worth it.

This was sooo good. I made it for a ladies get-together and it was such a hit that everyone asked for the recipe and are still talking about it. This was the first time I made it, I followed the recipe exactly and it was amazing. Will definitely make again. Great for a summer treat.

Cornish Finnish Michigan Pasties

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
We loved these, it hit the spot for my hubby who is a meat and potato kind of guy. Plus my picky son loved it! It definitely reminded me of the pasties I used to eat as a kid visiting the U.P. I did not use MSG, gives us headaches too, but instead added Worcestershire sauce which gave it a great flavor. I used southern cube cut hash browns which worked out perfectly and saved lots of time. Instead of rutabaga, since I had a hard time finding it, I used parsnips which added a very mild sweetness and great flavor. Also I decided not to put the ground pork in and just used 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef and added extra veggies to make up for it and it was still excellent.

Avgolemono

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
My family didn't really like this at all. It is quick and easy to make but we couldn't finish a bowl and at leftovers instead. I made the recipe exactly as directed with no substitutions. I've never had this type of soup before so I didn't know what to expect, maybe its just our own taste preferrence but I will not be making it again.

Bean Quesadillas

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
My family liked them alot, but I wasn't that impressed. There wasn't enough seasoning in them so I added some cumin, chili powder and cayenne pepper. I also mashed the bean mixture so that it would stay in the quesadilla better. I also added a lot more cheese too it and that helped out with flavor and holding the tortillas together.

Corn Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
This was great, the whole family loved it, even my picky son who doesn't like tomatoes. I wouldn't change anything but maybe the amount of cayenne pepper, it was just a little too spicy for me, and maybe a little less salt. I will definitely make again.
