About this Cook
Cooking is healing therapy for me. Nothing is more satisfying than digging in a meatloaf with both hands. I learned all of the traditional southern recipes at an early age and have been known to serve fried potatoes and onions at a dinner party.
My favorite things to cook
I am a cook. I am not a baker. Mrs. Smith makes much better pies than I do. Fresh vegetables are a must and I make a mean stuffed pork loin.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of us, sons and daughters, in the kitchen, tripping over one another and having fun. Doesn't matter much how the food turns out.
My cooking triumphs
Stuffed pork loin. I can do a million things with sweet potatoes.
My cooking tragedies
I fried a hen when I was a young bride. Enough said.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
I prefer my own recipe for meatloaf but I've been using the glaze since I first found this recipe some time ago. I put it on the bottom and on the top! I often bake my meatloaf in an iron skillet as we really like the 'crispy' edges. This glaze is a great addition and everyone loves it and begs for more.

Sweet Coated Pecans
Followed the recipe exactly and they are wonderful! I lined my cookie sheet with aluminum foil and sprayed it with cooking oil because I didn't want the mess and it worked beautifully. I will make these again and again. Thank you for this delicious treat!
