Sweet and Sour Pork III

This was my first attempt at home made sweet and sour sauce from scratch and it turned out great. The pork pieces taste great even on their own. I did a few minor changes like flour instead of corn starch and I had no celery. Next time I will try brown sugar instead of white to see how it works. I served it with rice and it was awesome.

Crab Bisque

The tomatoe was a little overpowering, but once I upped the spices a bit it ended up balancing out. I would still recommend not using the full can, but at least 75% of it minimum. The pepper to taste should be 2 decent sprinkles over the pan, if the soup is bland add more pepper. I also didnt have curry so I used cayenne which worked quite well, about 2 pinches. This can be done with any seafood I think, in fact it almost seemed like the crab was intruding on the soup and unneeded. It was quite yummy, my GF who is a chef recommended I add more pepper when she tried a spoon and that made it a lot better. It was quite quick and easy too which is big in my books ;-)

Braised Beef Short Ribs

A decent recipe for braising meat. I couldnt find short ribs at the grocery store, or good veal with bones so I used a similar cut of lamb instead. The recipe was easy (except for the long cooking time!) and the meat came out extremely tender. I agree with other reviewers that it could use more flavor, although short ribs are often rather flavorfull. Leftovers heated up the next day in a microwave were still good. And to those that dont know what to do with beef ribs - just BBQ them! Rare or medium rare with some spices according to taste. Its not the most tender cut, but it isnt tough either, and like all meat near the bone is quite flavorful!

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Delicious but oh so sinfull with all the butter... Note: Dill is the perfect spice for this, dont substitute, as well as the Montery Jack cheese is required- when I was forced to substitute motzarella cheese, it was not nearly as good.
