Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2006
I made this for my husband. He loved it. I didn't strain the jalapenos before adding the pectin, so it was more of a jam. My hasband said that the only thing it needed was more spice. But that was my fault because I removed *all* of the seeds and ribs before blending. Thanks!

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2007
I decorate cakes so I am always on the hunt for good cake recipes. This one is FABULOUS!! Easily the best chocolate cake I have ever had, let alone made. Even my husband said that it was "chocolate lovin' on a fork". I did add a vanilla custard filling between the layers. But really, it would be great without it. Note: The only issue I had with this recipe is that the (very runny) batter overflowed during baking. What was left in the pan (~90%), was great!

Deer Jerky

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
I have never made jerky before and this came out perfect. It was gone within 24hrs... I'll have to make more next time! I did let it marinate a *long* time (3days....)

Spiced Pork Chops

Everyone liked them (even the kids). I used a bit less brown sugar, but that was my only change. Will make again.

Simple and delicious. I did use less oil. It did not affect the end product. Yummmmm!!!

Chinese Five Spice Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
I was looking for a rib recipe that was not BBQ (and thus not as sugary). These were great. Kids loved them. Husband asked me to make them again less than a week later. I did nit marinate the ribs. Just cooked them in the sauce (plus 1/2 c water) in the crockpot on high for 6 hrs, then broiled them in the oven to crisp them up a bit. Wonderful!

Rotisserie Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
Very good. Made it without the butter and used skinned chicken. I let it soak in a salt water brine for ~2hrs before I seasoned and grilled it. With those changes, it was perfect for us.

Sweet Pork Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This was good...but not great. I have had much better. The pineapple was a nice addition and I might include that in my go-to chili recipe. Note: my 3yo LOVED it!

Joan's Famous Mondel Brodt

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Good for dunking in coffee or hot chocolate. Alone they are not that great. If I were to make them again, I would use a different type of nut (pecans) and add some dried fruit or chocolate.

White Chocolate Snack Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
This was good. BUT....our family still prefers the sweet snack mix. It is the same base ingredients, but instead of white chocolate coating, it is a caramel mixture. (3 c brown sugar, 1.5 c butter, 1/2 c corn suyrp boiled together for 3 min)

Yeast Waffles

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
Same recipie a good friend gave us. My husband, the "non-breakfast" eater LOVES them!! So do my kids. Me...I still prefer a good pancake (griddlecakes on this site are AMAZING). I will make them again for everyone else. Note: they do take a bit of forethought...not something you decide to make one morning for breakfast. Great, yeasty flavor and aroma!

Sweet Party Mix

GREAT!! But...I thought that it was better if you did NOT bake it after adding the coating....just stir well and let it cool to room temp.

Rainbow Clown Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Taste was OK...box cake mix. The coloring idea was great. My 6 year-old LOVED it! I would not make it for the taste alone. But the idea and end product is worth it.

Soda Cracker Cookies

OMG!! These are soooooo good!! Just make sure to heat the sugar/butter mixture to the right temperature (candy thermometer helps) or it will be grainy and not like toffee.

Didn't add chicken. Was good for a quick dinner. Kids ate it up. Doubled the sauce...would have been dry without that. Will make again.

Bacon-Wrapped Pineapple Bites

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
Husband *LOVED* them! I baked some per the recipe, and grilled some. Both ways were wonderful. I do not think that the sweet and sour sauce made much of a diference.
