Sherry's German Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Everyone loved it. A big hit. Brining is the key...and the bacon helps too. The fruit may have added moisture...but we did not detect their flavor.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Oreos. Cream cheese. Chocolate. How could it be anything less than great? This was "the cookie/candy" this Christmas. Everyone LOVED them (even my son who "doesn't care for chocolate"). These will be made every year for Christmas at our house!

Puppy Chow I

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Very good, but very rich. A little too much so for my family. I might make again, but use more cereal to "sauce" for a lighter coating. (This is also great to make when camping!!)

Soda Cracker Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
OMG!! These are soooooo good!! Just make sure to heat the sugar/butter mixture to the right temperature (candy thermometer helps) or it will be grainy and not like toffee.

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Perfect shortbread. Not too sweet, but wonderfully buttery and crumbly.

Joan's Famous Mondel Brodt

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Good for dunking in coffee or hot chocolate. Alone they are not that great. If I were to make them again, I would use a different type of nut (pecans) and add some dried fruit or chocolate.

White Velvet Cutouts

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
These are great. They hold the shape very well and do not puff up or "melt." They also taste great (even without frosting) and stay semi-soft. Yum!

Raisin-Filled Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
I had a difficult time with these cookies. They required **much** more flour to roll out (even after being chilled overnight in the fridge). Also, the filling tasted of pasty sugar..not good. The dough itself was good when baked alone as a cut out cookie (hence the three stars). I will not make these again.

Peanut Butter Balls III

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
These were very good. The rice krispies made them less rich (which was a good thing), but we think that the peanut butter balls that are made with graham crackers taste more like peanut butter cup candy. I will make the other kind in the future.

Thai Spicy Basil Chicken Fried Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2010
Everyone loved this!! I did have Thai basil (yum!)...so the only change I had to make was to use canola oil instead of peanut oil. Will make again...maybe with shrimp?

Perfect as written. Would also be good with a little sugar and spice for breakfast too.

Great for rolling out. Not the best tasting cookie...but perfect for cutouts.

Bucket of Blood

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Kids LOVED it. Used a can of pasta sauce instead of tomato soup and added little sausages for "fingers." Kids ate it all...so I cannot say how well it would go over with adults. :-)

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Tasted good...not great, but good (I have had better shortbread). However, these cookies spread *a lot*. To get "fingers" they had to be about the thickness of a pencil before going into the oven. Another issue: because the spread, you could not shape them to look like fingers (i.e. knuckles, wrinkles, etc). So...I was disappointed... I will try this idea again...but with a different cookie recipe.

Raisin Puffs

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
The taste was good but they spread a lot. To stop this I had to add more flour. The end result was good...but I had better raisin cookies by just adding raisins to a basic (good) sugar cookie dough...without soaking the raisins.

Pico de Tuna

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
Excellent. I added garlic power and rice (to make it a complete meal). My kids loved it and so did my husband. He added Chalula...which made it even better!

Winter Energy Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
I made these w/o the molasses and the nuts b/c I realized at the last moment that I didn't have either. Even w/o those they are really good, dense, soft cookies. Nothing crazy good, but very tasty. I would make them again.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, slightly sweet. Used a blender to mix ingredients. Only downside --> could taste the baking powder in some bites. Not sure why as everything was very well mixed. May reduce the baking powder slightly next time.
