Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2007
I decorate cakes so I am always on the hunt for good cake recipes. This one is FABULOUS!! Easily the best chocolate cake I have ever had, let alone made. Even my husband said that it was "chocolate lovin' on a fork". I did add a vanilla custard filling between the layers. But really, it would be great without it. Note: The only issue I had with this recipe is that the (very runny) batter overflowed during baking. What was left in the pan (~90%), was great!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2007
This was very good! Hubby ate it up. I only used 1lb of meat (ground turkey), and I thought that there should be more of the yummy sauce... Next time I will double it. Left out the mushrooms since hubby hates them (sigh). Served over garil mashed potatoes. Perfect!

Black Forest Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
I made this cake in the morning at let it sit, assembled, until later that night. I found the cake itself to be dry (even with the added moisture). I may use another chocolate cake base. Other than that I thought it was pretty good. Honestly, I have had better cakes...that didn't take as much work. (Still...husband loves cherries and I love chocolate cake, so this was a good compromise). Note: I didn't have kirsh, so I used cherry juice with a bit of whiskey...not the same, but it worked:-)

Clone of a Cinnabon

The perfect cinnamon roll. Soft roll, gooey filling, and cream cheese frosting! The total effect is s little over powering though...very rich and sweet. You can only eat one (which is probably a good thing...)

Pralines, Coffee and Cream Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
Yummm!!! Even my non-cake-eating husband raved! I used coffee instead of coffee liquor and real whipped cream instead of cool whip. The frosting was out of this world...cleaned the bowl with a slice of bread...:-)

This was good. My husband really liked it. Probably would have been even better if I had not forgotten the coconut milk.... :-)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
This was great lasagna...5 stars for lasagna recipes. However, there was nothing special about it ... Hubby and I decided that it should get 4 stars. Very good...but not exceptional. (I added more cheese and more meat. I didn't cook the noodles before layering and they were perfect).

Cream Puff Cake

Husband LOVED it...but more for the pudding than anything else. I used the pastry cream from this site vs. instant.

Quick Gnocchi

I have tried to make gnocchi in the past , never sucessfully. I made these with butter herb instant mashed potatoes. I thought that they turned out well. Nice chewy little "dumplings."

Tuna Pea Wiggle

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
The kids ate it. I thought it was OK, but bland (added *a lot* of salt and pepper to mine). I made with corn b/c I was out of peas and I added an extra can of tuna. Will make again b/c the kids liked it and ate their veggies.

Italian Creme Layer Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
Update: my husband has just dubbed this his favorite cake in the whole world.... :-) Husband's first word was "WOW!" We both gave this five stars. Very moist and yummy. I baked it in a 10" spring form pan and then sliced the cooled cake in half to fill. GREAT!

Yum! I made it with chicken breasts and extra tomatoes. Didn't add the ghee...maybe I will next time. But it is great without it.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
These were given top rating at our super bowl party. I added cilantro to the chicken mixture. Also, I didn't want the mess of frying, so I brushed them with butter and baked them at 350 until they were nice and golden. Also, I used ~1 1/c of blcak beans and ~1 c of corn. YUMMM!!
