Learned to cook by trial and error. My Mom was an excellent cook but it made her nervous for anyone else to be in the kitchen so I can't give her credit for teaching me although I use many of her recipes to this day.

My favorite family cooking traditions
I love letting my granddaughters help me cook. It's a tradition when I visit with them and they visit with me that we always cook something together. At ages 3 and 5, they can break an egg in a bowl without making a mess and measure flour and sugar. I have cute photos of them in my kitchen baking cookies.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 20 and everything turning out perfect.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I ever cooked a turkey I did not know there was a bag of parts inside and just cooked the turkey with all the stuff still in it. I don't think it changed the taste but I was teased for years after that.

Irish Shamrock Cookies
These cookies are absolutely delicious and the first "rolled out" cookies I have made in years. I had a shamrock cookie cutter and wanted to make cookies for my grandchildren and picked this recipe. Didn't change a thing and I couldn't believe how easy the dough was to work with. Thank you MBMCD for submitting a great recipe.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole
My daughter gave me a version of this recipe several years ago and it's absolutely delicious. She puts 1 cup of shredded Swiss cheese in with the other ingredients and after baking, puts 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese on top and it melts from the heat of the cooked cornbread. She doesn't use creamed corn either, just a 8 oz. package of frozen whole kernel corn. I never liked cornbread before I tasted this . . . it's not coarse and it's a sweeter version. Yummy.

Bar-B-Que Sauce
This is absolutely the best made from scratch bar-b-que sauce I have ever tasted. I mixed all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and poured over boneless chicken breasts to bake in the oven. Will use the sauce next time to baste chicken on the grill. Yummy, yummy, yummy. Thanks Debi K.
