About this Cook
I have a full time career so its not always easy to find time to cook during the week. When the weekends roll around though I love to go all out baking, cooking, grilling. I'm always in search of the next great recipe.
My favorite things to cook
During the week I look for quick and easy recipes that make great left overs. On the weekends though I lean towards more gourmet meals or comfort foods and I'm always in search of the best cookie recipe out there.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My fondest memories come from being in the kitchen with mom. She was a stay at home mom and was always trying out a new recipe or breaking out an old favorite. The weekends were always centered around cooking... big breakfasts on Saturday mornings... a home cooked meal with all the fixings Sunday afternoon after church. During the holidays we spend days in the kitchen preparing deserts and side dishes for the special meal.
My cooking triumphs
My proudest moment cooking was preparing an entire Thanksgiving meal from scratch with all the trimmings myself... and everything turned wonderfully.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried making my moms cinnamon roll recipe I think I added way too much flour and the dough turned into a huge, extremely tough lump. I didn't give up though. I threw it away and tried again with much better results the second time around.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
Turned out just like the reviews said.... moist, dense and delicious. I didn't have buttermilk on hand but followed another reviewers suggestion for substituting two tablespoons of the milk with lemon juice. I served this with chilli and it was great!

Greek Pasta Salad I
I added 1/4 c extra vinegar for a bit more flavor. This recipe makes a ton.... I have made a couple of times and I always think it won't make enough... although it states only 4 servings this recipe is more than enough salad for 8 if not more.

Cucumber Sandwiches III
Made these for an office party and everyone gobbled them up. If you can use fresh dill over dried it makes a huge difference!
