About this Cook
I like to cook, but I hate the clean-up! (doesn't everybody?) I've never grilled and I'm pretty good at "guess-timating" in my recipes. I mostly use the measuring cups for reference. My husband complains that I've made more interesting and better recipes for my book club friends than for him (he appreciates the leftovers, though!)
My favorite things to cook
I like one-pot recipes for the stove top. I also make a pretty mean meatloaf! I love making cookies but rarely do because they are so putzy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad used to make what we called "yooks." This usually involved whatever meat we had, a can of vegetables, a can of cream-of-something soup, and some noodles stirred together in the electric frying pan. Our family is also really good at making the food-to-eat-before-we-eat. In fact, for our last family gathering I couldn't decide which two appetizers to bring so I brought five!
My cooking triumphs
I've gotten many rave reviews for my meatloaf, my spaghetti carbonara, and my many variations of trifle!
My cooking tragedies
Like probably 95% of the cooks, I left one of the hidden surprises in my Thanksgiving turkey the first time I cooked it.

Simple Beef Pot Roast
Haven't even cleared my plate and I came to talk about how good this is! We used a French Onion Spoon Roast pre-seasoned from the butcher. I added a couple chunky-cubed potatoes about an hour before the end time. My husband immediately asked if we could have this every week. Yum!

Glazed Grilled Pork Chops
Easy-peasy recipe! I took out the mustard/ cayenne/ and chili powder and instead put in a spoonful of Thai Chili Garlic sauce. It was a huge hit, even on the indoor grill.

Chicken Bake and Rice
The sauce was really rich but really good. We put it over pasta instead of rice and cut the chicken into chunks rather than leave it whole. The whole thing was so simple that we will probably make it again!
