South Carolina Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2008
Finally! I am a sweet tea expert! Thanks so very much for sharing this recipe. I actually tried 1/2 Splenda and 1/2 sugar. I've lived in the South for 16 years, and I've learned the trick.

Iowa Maid-Rites

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
Never ate one in Iowa, but to me, it tasted like a steak sandwich of sorts. My bf and I gobbled them up! I chopped a large onion, used ground round, beef stock, garlic powder, S&P, and worcestershire sauce. Cooked it down to almost dry, and they were scrumptious. We ate them on fresh onion buns. It was a spur of the moment late dinner, but we loved it.

Authentic and Easy Shrimp Curry

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
I made this late in the evening after a long busy day. I had a raw, cleaned pound of shrimp and made this recipe on top of the stove. The flavor was absolutely fantastic!! We had just enough butter sauce to use on the rice from last night's meal. This is a definite keeper of a recipe!!

Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
I'll never boil corn again.....this was absolutely scrumptious. M/waved 3 ears, in the husks, on a platter with a moist paper towel. Cooked 4 mins on high, turned them and rotated them, and ran them on high for another 4 mins. They stayed in the husks for about 5 mins. while I got the rest of the meal finished up, and they were perfect. Thanks for posting......

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
I didn't sauce these ribs, as I wanted to know the true taste of the meat. I was afraid to use the cumin rub, and used my "Old Faithful" salt, pepper, garlic, and celery salt. I've never ever cooked a more scrumptious rack of ribs. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!

City Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
Nostalgia personified! I had forgotten about City Chicken that we purchased from Austin's Meat Market in Coudersport, Pa. in the 50's and early 60's. We'd bring them home in a brown wrapped package, Mom would cook them that night. Heavenly smell, heavenly dish. I think part of the key is to brown it well, then add chicken broth. Thanks so much for posting this recipe! I enjoyed it minus skewers, for dinner this evening!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I made this for our Christmas dinner, and we were not disappointed. My son, who is not usually crazy about ham, asked to take the leftover ham home! Using the crockpot also freed the oven for making the side dishes.

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2006
This is by far, the best pork rib recipe ever. It is a MUST-TRY. I, too, cut down the soy sauce to about 1/4 cup, which was perfect. The slightly garlicy coating is awesome. I almost quit cooking it too soon, as just before it browns it makes a great sauce. I turned it off and tasted some, but turned it back on, and was glad I took it to the final browning stage. Do try this, you won't be disappointed. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Easy Herb Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
Never have I made such an easy, mouthwatering turkey! Smelled awesome while it was baking. I followed other reviewer's suggestions, and used canned chicken broth in the bottom of the roaster. Stuffed cavity with onions quartered, garlic cloves, and 2 fresh limes I had to use up. Made the best gravy, as well as browned but not dried out skin! A definite keeper!

Slow Cooker Lentils and Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
I have to say, for my first try at making lentils, it was pretty darn easy thanks to this recipe! I did nothing different other than to use only 2 cups of water. Salt and peppered to taste. Thanks for a great recipe to keep!

Easy Fruit Cobbler Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
This was a great quick dessert. We used cherry pie filling, then pecan pieces, then the cake mix, and poured Sprite over all. Intriguing and good. Tasted like cobbler. It was also good the next day. This is fun for kids to help with. Try it! You'll like it.

Pork Chops with Dill Pickle Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
Absolutely scrumptious! My friends couldn't guess what our pork ribs were marinated in! I grilled them, but didn't use any other kind of sauce on them. Didn't turn green, as one reviewer said...rofl. I, too, used Clausen's dill juice, which I'm not above drinking right out of the jar! Highly recommend whether one likes pickles or not.

Sloppy Joes I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2006
I've been using a recipe similar to this for 20+ years, but I omit water and use about 1 cup of ketchup (I use the cheapest kind I can find). A college roomate made these, and I tried it before I realized it was made w/Chicken gumbo soup. I might not have tried them otherwise, and would have missed a jewel of a meal! It was a good way to sneak veggies into my kids meals, as they never watched me make it. TRY IT! You'll love it!

Corn Salad II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2006
Absolutely awesome corn salad, although I had to improvise and use what I had on hand. I've been looking for a good recipe since I first ate corn salad at Luther's BBQ in Houston. I omitted sour cream and used all mayo; accidentally doubled the vinegar, so balanced it with 1/2 pkt of Equal; added a sprinkle of dill and chives due to no dry mustard; used 1 can corn and one whole cucumber w/2 Roma tomatoes. Thanks a bunch for the initial recipe. Can't wait to try it with the sour cream and see what that tastes like!
