My name is Samantha, and I am married to my wonderful husband, Lee. We love cooking together! He has taught me a lot of what I know, and has really helped me grow as a cook. I've also taught him the ropes on baking :). We work well as a team. Some of our favorite memories together are getting the munchies and making some good food haha :).
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Italian, that is my specialty. Lee is the star Mexican cook! We love cooking up some American, and we love trying new foods and new food cultures. One of our favorite things to cook is down home meals. We're from the country and we LOVE our butter ;) We call ourselves the Buttertons :P.
Some of our best homemade dishes are :
Pizza
Enchiladas
Burgers (any kind)
Mexican Steak
Seafood Stuffed Shells
Baja Fish Tacos
BBQ Ribs + Homemade pulled pork sandwiches
Pineapple Pork Chops
Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo
Mexican Lasagna
Chicken and Dumplings
Cornbread
Homemade Soup
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have any really.
My cooking triumphs
Making Thanksgiving dinner 7 years in a row!! All of which have been successful!
Well....there was that one year that I forgot to defrost the turkey and woke up with a start at 6 AM with the thought " OMG I FORGOT TO THAW THE TURKEY!!!" So I jumped up and started thawing it in the sink...now THAT was a interesting Thanksgiving lol. BTW everything still turned out delicious! :) :)
My cooking tragedies
I was cooking for my new boyfriend on his birthday (I can proudly say he's now my husband :) ). We hadn't been dating very long at all, only a month. All of the recipes that I used were from the internet, and I never got the chance to test out any of them. It all sounded good, and seemed easy enough to make so I gave it a try. I tend to stress out really really bad while cooking, So on the day of his birthday i was running around like a chicken with its head cut off! I got WAAAYY in over my head! I chose some kind of macaroni pie or something that did NOT go as the directions said it would. About the time he walked through my kitchen door to say hello, I spilled the runny, gooy cheese EVERYWHERE. It was all over my kitchen!!! Needless to say I was really embarrassed, and extremely frustrated. So I started crying, and he was laughing at me!!! Needless to say, we are married now, and my cooking skills didn't scare him off!
