Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2004
My family and I did not like the sauce at all. However, the rib meat was very, very tender. Now I have a lot of leftover ribs because no one liked them.

Mexican Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
This was good however, I made some changes. To cut the cooking time, I used oven-ready lasagna noodles (this cuts cooking time to 45 minutes). Since this was oven-ready, I did not add the water. I also doubled the refried beans to two cans. Next time I'm going to try using black beans in lieu of the regular refried beans. Thanks for sharing!

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
This was good. I used a ziplock bag to coat and instead of parsley, I used Italian seasoning. Easy and enjoyable.

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
Good recipe. Spiced it up a bit using some italian seasoning. Also did like others and browned the coated chicken in butter. Served over pasta which was a nice presentation.

Slow Cooker Chicken Continental

I thought this was very dry and bland. However, my husband really liked it so I gave it three stars.

Bacon Cheeseburger Upside Down Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
This was "okay." It seemed like it needed more crust or something. My husband did not like it but I thought it was okay.

Chinese Chicken Casserole Surprise

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
I made a good many changes to this recipe. First, I substituted cream of celery soup for the cream of mushroom soup. I did use the optional chopped celery. I also added a 1/4 cup of soy sauce and some garlic powder. Since I like things crunchy, I used an additional can of the crunchy chow mein noodles on the top of the casserole during the last fifteen minutes of baking. Overall, I enjoyed this recipe. My husband liked it too.

Turkey and Stuffing Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2005
This was "okay" but then again, I am used to making my dressing homemade from cornbread. My husband liked it though.

Banana Split Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
My family has been making this for years and we LOVE it! We slice the bananas into thin slices and use chopped pecans on the top. Like another reviewer stated I use halved cherries on top as well. Another idea is to use chopped pistachios. This is a GREAT dessert for a pot luck...it will be gone before you know it!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
Suprisingly good taste. I served yellow rice (saffron) with this jambalaya. It was an excellent choice. The flavor blended perfectly!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
I added a small bag of mini carrots instead of cutting up four carrots like the recipe stated. We love carrots in our house. Also the other reviewer stated it does not need extra salt but all of us had to add a little salt to ours. The chicken is so tender it falls apart after cooking for seven hours at low temperature in the slow cooker. This is a keeper for us. Even our four year old loved it!

Snow-Topped Holiday SWIRLED™ Brownie Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
These were better the second day than the same day they were baked. So don't be disappointed when you first taste them. You might be surprised the next day! Also the stores here in Meridian, Mississippi did not carry the holiday colors so we had to use the regular boring colors of brown/white...what a drag. Oh well...they tasted good anyway.

Spicy Beef Vegetable Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
I have now found a new beef vegetable soup to replace the one I have been making for the past 15 years. That's how good this one is! The only changes I made was to add extra meat--a pound of stew meat (on top of the ground beef) and fresh baby carrots. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Chocolate Malted Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
This ice cream turned out pretty good. Our grocery store only had vanilla malted milk powder so I added cocoa to the recipe and it tasted great. We have a soft serve ice cream maker. The small pieces of malted milk balls caused the hole the ice cream comes out of to stop up so we had to scoop it out. So just letting you know if you have one of these soft serve ice cream makers too, plan on scooping it out. It's worth it though. Enjoy!

Slow Cooker Beef and Mushroom Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
We really liked this stew. I changed it slightly. Doubled everything! Didn't brown the meat. Just thew it in the cooker. In the end it was just too soupy so I took about a third a cup of the stew/soup and mixed it with about a tablespoon of flour (no lumps please). Added this back to the pot and turned to high. Let cook for an additional 30 minutes and it thickened up. Needs some salt too. Served over rice. Very hearty meal!

Jan's Pretzel Dogs

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
I boiled half of the wrapped hot dogs and then I just baked the other half without boiling them. We all preferred the non- boiled ones. I do not know the purpose of boiling them but it changed the texture for sure. I will be just baking these in the future. Overall, great recipe!
