Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2014
I have used this recipe for the past three Thanksgivings, this year will be year 4. It's excellent!! My family loves it, and it doesn't get any easier than this. My hubby smokes the dark meat and I use this recipe for the breasts. I prepare the bacon the day before and I triple the gravy ingredients. My cook time is usually less than stated. I have to use two crocks because I am usually using the breasts of a 24 lb. turkey to feed our large group. This has become a tradition in our house now.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

This is so moist and delish! I use frozen blueberries (do not thaw) and I use two 9x5 pans. It freezes great! I wrap the completely cooled bread in foil then place in a gallon freezer bag.

Easy Cheap and Yummy Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2012
I was looking for a recipe to use up some chicken hot dogs, which my family didn't care for by themselves and this worked great. I used canned chili in place of the baked beans and I sliced my dogs thinner than called for, using only 1 package, which was perfect. My hubby and 3 teenage boys all liked this a lot. I will definitely make this again, and now I have a reason to buy the chicken hot dogs again. :-)

Hawaiian Style Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2012
I left out the salami b/c I didn't have any. I added about 1/2 cup more sauce then called for. After it was all mixed together I put it into a glass baking dish (sprayed with PAM) and topped it with shredded Mozzarella. Baked it til the cheese was melted, about 20 min. The cheese added to the Pizza taste. Next time I will incorporate the cheese into the mixture, then bake it so you get a little cheese in every bite. My 3 teenage boys loved this, even my meat and potatoe loving hubby went back for seconds...thank goodness I quadrupled the recipe :) It doesn't get any easier than this! Thanks Elizabeth!

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
I made this yesterday for a family gathering. I used the suggestions from "ashleynicole" and in addition added cinnamon to the milk/egg mixture. I used day old french bread. Mine turned out more like a bread pudding, which wasn't a bad thing, everyone liked it. I love everyone's comments and their take and changes to recipes, but next time I will try this recipe as written.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
I have made this twice since Christmas eve. Both times I used sausage, and monterey jack cheese in place of swiss (because that's what I had). The 2nd time I made it I double the sausage, added 2 additional eggs, added garlic and onion powder, salt and pepper and used cubed hash browns (again, it's what I had) cooked it in a 15x10 dish. This is a great recipe because you can adjust it to what you have on hand. I will always double the meat though. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's so versital. I'm looking forward to trying it with the swiss cheese.

Sausage Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
These were very tasty, and so easy! I will definitely make them again. They were eaten as fast as I was slicing them. Next time I will double the recipe. Made per recipe, but excluded the poppy seeds (didn't have any) I knew I would like these becuase the filling is what I always use to stuff mushrooms, which is another crowd pleaser!

Pumpkin Pie Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
I used homemade sweet potato puree in place of the pumkin and I added an extra teaspoon of pumkin pie spice. I also added the water in with the wet ingredients by mistake, but it turned out fine and I'll do it that way in the future. My son who requested pumkin bread, thought this was great, so did the rest of the family!

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
My family loved this. I took TrishDish's idea of cooking it in an electric skillet and it worked great! I used ground turkey, cream of muschroom soup and a brown gravy packet because that's what I had on hand. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Total comfort food. I will definitely make this again.

Spanish Rice Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
Yummy and oh so easy! The changes I made were based on what I had on hand. Ground turkey, 10 oz can diced tomatoes w/chilies, no bell pepper. I only put in about 1/2 the brown sugar called for and I added about 1/2 tsp of garlic powder and about 1/2 cup extra water. I cooked up everything in my cast iron skillet (took about 40 min for my rice to cook) and then into the oven. Clean up was also a breeze. It doesn't get much easier than this. Will definitely keep this recipe handy for those busy weeknights. Thanks for sharing Melodie!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
I made this bread using the dough cycle of my bread machines, then made as directed (I did cut the sugar down to about half - didn't measure just didn't put in as much as called for) I have been making bread for many years. I have two bread machines and strickly use them for the dough cycles. I use them weekly for my family of 5. Because I make so much bread, I use and try a lot of different recipes. This is one of my favorites for white bread. Definitely a keeper!

Cherry-Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
I made this yesterday and it was the easiest pie I have ever made. I usually have all the ingredients on hand, so it's win - win for my family!!! We have been snowed in the past couple of days, and we wanted a fruity dessert so I did an ingredient search and this is what came up. My husband who likes blueberries but not cherries loved it! My 3 teenage boys ate two pieces each and when the pie plate was empty they asked me to make another one, which I did today. I will be making this pie often. We loved it!!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
These were good, but they needed something...probably garlic. They were very easy to make and I will make them again with some tweeking. I ran short on time, so I cooked them for 1 hour @ 425 and then uncovered them for about 10 minutes....you definitely need to uncover during the last 10-15 minutes of cooking.
