Lemonade Pie III

My mom made this often when I was a kid. When I found the recipe, I had to make it just to bring back memories. It isn't my favorite pie but it is good, quick and easy.

Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

This is a great cake. Personally, I found it too chocolatey, but I'm not all that crazy about chocolate. The two chocoholics I made the cake for loved it...therefore I'm giving it 5 stars. :)

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Heavenly! I added extra blueberries and doubled the pecan mixture. I found that it took considerably longer than 55-60 minutes to bake, more like 90 minutes almost. I will be making this recipe often!

Reuben Casserole

I hate to say it but I just didn't enjoy this like I thought I would. We love reubens, and this sounded fantastic but it kind of fell short of my expectations. It was a little dry despite the fact that I used more dressing than was called for. My biggest complaint, however, was it's lack of "krautiness". If I made this again I would use two cans. As it was, I used one can, and did not rinse.

Vinegar Pecan Pie

My mom, who is well known for her more "traditional" pecan pie recipe, gave this recipe 3 stars. I, on the other hand, LOVED this recipe and I would give it 5...so I compromised. It really is delicious if you like pecan pie but enjoy things a little less sweet.

Frosted Pecan Bites

Any recipe with pecans is great with me because we have our own pecan trees. I've made these the last few Christmases and given them as gifts. We love them!

Italian Cookies II

These are very good...the frosting makes the cookie. My only complaint is that they are a bit difficult to store. When I make cookies, I make several types at once and then take trays of cookies to several elderly people I know. These cookies are just a little harder to transport because they are so moist. The flavor, however, is delicious.

Best Bread Machine Bread

This recipe did turn out soft and flaky, as promised. It also smelled wonderful as it baked. However, I found it to be completely flavorless. I suppose we like breads with more personality.

Baklava

I've made this so many times now, I don't even need to look at the recipe anymore! I only use half a box of phyllo, half the amount of butter called for, more cinnamon and the same amounts of everything else. Also, to make it quicker, I usually put three sheets of dough in the pan at a time, then butter and add nuts, etc. It's just as good, taste wise. Maybe not "authentic" but I have wowed many people with this recipe!

Tiramisu II

I LOVE this recipe! Originally, I was quite disappointed. Shortly after making it, I had a piece and decided it wasn't worth the cost of the ingredients or the time it took to find them. However, when I went back to it a day or two later...HEAVEN! I've made it three times since (all in the last month) and I always make it two days before I need it or plan to eat it. It's one of those recipes that needs to sit a while. I use more vanilla, equal parts of coffee and brandy (and more than the recipe calls for), and I've even made it with pound cake when the local bakery/deli is out of ladyfingers...it's just as good and much cheaper!
