Snickerdoodles II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
If you look at snickerdoodle recipes they're all about the same.. so of course they're all delicious. The main differences seem to be shortening versus butter, temperature ranges from 350-400, and servings.. usually 24-36. I didn't have shortening so I used butter (some would say that I ruined them by doing that.. I think they're great though). I also added some vanilla.. not sure if it made a difference or not. I think cooking at 400 is the key.. I followed another recipe that said 350 and made sure not to overcook and they still weren't as good. Then I upped it to 400 and they were much better.. a little crunchy on the outside and just lightly done/soft on the inside (mine sank in a little when cooked for 7 minutes or so.. which to me was perfect). Thanks so much

Maple Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
I love this stuff! Ever since I saw this recipe I use the basic ingredients to make apple crisp. I only gave it a 4-star rating because as-is I think the recipe calls for too much sugar (especially maple) and too much butter. I don't measure anything, but I cut up the apples (sometimes I peel them too) then drizzle some maple syrup over them (sometimes I add some cinnamon and nutmeg to the apples). Then I mix roughly equal amounts of oats, flour (wheat), and brown sugar (a little less) with a bit of salt. Then I add enough butter and oil to dampen the topping. Spread over apples and bake until the top starts to brown. I can't eat it without ice cream... DELICIOUS!!

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2007
Pretty good!!!! I changed the recipe a little... followed the normal brownie recipe and cooked it at 350 until it was pretty much cooked. When I put it back in with the cheesecake I put a pan of water on the rack below. For the top (after cooking) I just spread the caramel and then a small layer of ganache-heated heavy cream then poured it over some chocolate chips and stirred them until it was melted. I got pretty good reviews, my mom told me to keep the recipe.

Brownie Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
Really good!!!! I didn't make mine a choco chip cheesecake though... i did buy ghirradeli dark choco chips and i put them on top of the baked brownie. then i put raspberry swirls into the cheesecake and also whole raspberries. I thought the brownie had been cooked too long but it was perfect after cooking the cheesecake. I put a pan of water on a different shelf in the oven with it. Will definitely be making this again.

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
I thought it was pretty good! I made my own olive oil pie crust... and I substituted half of the white sugar for brown sugar. I think i had to cook it longer also.

Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2006
really good!!! i didn't really follow the recipe, i didn't measure anything, but i used the basic idea to make a really good stew type of soup. i put corn, potatoes, green beans, and garlic. more onion. added my own spices. didn't use the flour to thicken, instead used 1 can of white beans along with soup in blender. used vegetable broth instead of chicken cubes. let it stew on low on the stove for a couple of hours. really really good!
