Juiciest Hamburgers Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Outstanding recipe! Best burger recipe I've found. I had to substitute regular milk for evaporated and was concerned that I had only lean ground beef but they were really, really good - juicy and flavourful and not overwhelmed by spice. They tasted like real burgers. Highly recommend!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
Excellent basic recipe. Huge hit with the family. I tripled the recipe and used a ratio of 3C white flour to 2C wholewheat - a little extra so also added a bit more milk at the end to thin. Also added 6tbsp cinnamon and a ratio of apple sauce and apple butter - can't say how much. They are DELICIOUS!!!

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
These were a huge hit tonight. Might add less garlic and salt next time. Also, my BBQ lit up like a Christmas tree due to the olive oil in the burgers, but I turned the heat down, kept the lid open and they didn't burn. Delish.

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
Gave this 5 stars because it was so easy and good. I used a gourmet BBQ sauce but I might try a Chicken and Rib sauce - think it could have been sweeter. Watch carefully when under the broiler so that they don't burn. Use your favourite BBQ sauce and this can't go wrong!

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
Not a hit at my house - people found it too sweet. Husband didn't complain (he knows better) but he didn't get up for seconds. Two 4 year olds weren't impressed.

Tom Ka Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup)

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
This was gorgeous! I added 2 1/2 x the lime juice and extra fish sauce. I also added baby spinach and julienne slice of red pepper (made it more interesting to look at.) Huge hit with my husband.

Spring Strawberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
I made this last night as one of two salads for a pool party BBQ. It was a HUGE hit. One mistake I made - I took some of the spinach out of the bowl as it looked too full. Once dressed the spinach wilts. Wish I'd brought the spinach bag with me! Later, after we'd finished eating, I caught the people cleaning up picking the last bits of the salad out of the bowl! In terms of the dressing, I added more vinegar - I would recommend following the recipe then taste it and adjust according to your preference.

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
This recipe is fab - really tasty and plates beautifully. It is a huge hit whenever I make for company. Recommend doubling the sauce and adding extra 5 spice powder.

Szechuan Spicy Eggplant

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
This recipe is gorgeous and so economical. I always omit the shrimp because my husband is allergic. It also freezes well so I make a big batch up and freeze some. Maybe we have bigger eggplants in Canada but I never use as much eggplant as the recipe calls for. Definitely a week night staple. I have to remember to try it with ground pork.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
I was disappointed with one - followed the instructions precisely and we found the chicken quite dry. Was my oven too high? I gave the recipe 2 stars because it tasted better the next day, straight from the fridge. Only then did the rotisserie flavour really come through.

Koula's Best Ever Chicken Gyros

This was only okay - no wow factor. Adults liked, kids did not.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
This recipe was delicious - but not as I remember butter chicken from my favourite Indian restaurant. It seemed more like a chicken tikka massala. It seemed strange to be adding so much tomato puree - which is tomato paste to me. I added more cumin, chili powder and salt and I seasoned the chicken before I cooked it. My husband thought it was great though.

Thai-Style Tilapia

Reviewed: May 12, 2006
This a fantastic recipe - probably my favourite so far from this site. This recipe presents beautifully (if you're trying to impress guests) and adults and kids alike will love it. (I tell my 3 year old it's chicken and he loves it.) Even better - it's delicious as leftovers. I follow the tip about doubling the sauce - really important.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: May 12, 2006
Not impressed with this recipe - pork had no flavour and turned out tender but dry. Won't make again.
