Perfect!!! Just like Olive Garden!! I don't know what smoked sausage is so I used a roll of breakfast sausage and it was great.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2007
I always order this at restaurants and each place has a different tasting soup. I usually find it much too salty but this recipe was not. The only odd thing is that it was really sweet tasting. I agree with other reviewers and next time I will use white onion instead of sweet. I also thought I would have WAY too many onions when I cut them (I filled an entire mixing bowl) but they shrank down a lot.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2005
I unfortunately did not read the reviews before I made this. If I had, I definitely would have cooked the carrots, celery and potatoes before putting them in the pie because they were very crunchy. I substituted Morton's nature's seasoning instead of salt and I added some thyme and peas. We loved it even with the crunchiness. I will make it again but like I said, cook the fresh veggies first!

Portobello Mushroom Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2004
THIS WAS VERY GOOD. IT IS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE ARE NORMALLY USED TO SO IT WAS A NICE CHANGE. I DIDN'T USE FARFALLE...I USED 8OZ. OF ANGEL HAIR..WE LOVED IT. I DID ADD SPICES LIKE OTHER REVIEWERS SUGGESTED (ITALIAN SEASONING AND BASIL). THE ONLY SUGGESTION I HAVE IS TO DRAIN OFF THE LIQUID FROM THE MIXTURE BEFORE YOU TOSS IT WITH THE PASTA, WHICH IS WHAT I DID. PERFECT!

Wild Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2004
We really liked this. I thought the seasoning in the box of rice was great. Like another reviewer, I used fresh mushrooms. Next time I make it, I will use a leaner sausage because it was a little greasy. I will also leave the margarine out that the box of rice calls for. It doesn't need it with the sausage in it. Thanks Robyn!

Lemony Steamed Fish

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2003
Weird...all those spices and no flavor. I used red snapper. I would change it a lot if I made it again but I liked "steaming" it. Much healthier than some other methods.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2003
I made this and I thought it was pretty good. I do think the baking time was WAY TOO LONG. Pork can dry out fast. I poked the chops several times with a fork and put some broth in the bottom of the pan just because every time I make pork it turns out dry. But this worked good. I think frying it in the oil helps with the moistness too as does the wine. I used white cooking wine. Something about the wine that makes meat more moist. The breading got a little soggy with all the stuff on top which was kinda gross but overall a good find. Thanks!

Husband's Delight

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2003
I made this exactly as directed and I loved it. I would never have thought to put those ingredients together but it was very good. Sweet and tangy but hearty too. I served it and kept asking FH if he liked it and he kept saying, I don’t know. He eventually went back for seconds and said he liked it. It was nice to get out of the same old thing for dinner rut. Very different and delicious. I think cooking the onions would cause them to lose flavor and texture. In my opinion, keep them raw when you put them in the sour cream mixture. They get cooked in the oven anyway but still turn out somewhat crunchy. It needs no other spices IMHO. I did not find it dry or bland at all, contrary to other reviews. Very zippy and yummy!

Beefy Lentil Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2003
This was really good. I took other reviewer's advice and added some things: cumin, garlic, cayanne, and 2 potatoes. I will definitely make it again but I did go a little crazy with the cayanne so next time I will ease up a little and maybe use the spicy V8 like one person suggested. I did brown my onion and garlic because I like the texture you get from the onion. And it grabs the garlic flavor better. One thing I thought was odd was I set the timer for 90 min and my lentils (and potatoes and carrots) were done after only 60. I did use boiling water with the bullion cubes so maybe that had something to do with it. Thanks!

If you are a person who likes sweet things (sweet and sour sauce or honey mustard for example) you will LOVE this. It is a quick, cheap and easy way to use ground beef. LOVE IT!!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2003
We used some fresh grouper instead of tilapia. FH thought it was very tasty. I was not as impressed. I did do some substituting which may have affected the taste..I used Miracle Whip instead of mayo and garlic salt instead of celery salt (didn't have it). I thought that with the mayo, lemon juice, and parmasean, it was awfully tangy. It was edible though.

Tortilla Rollups II

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2003
I enjoyed this. It was pretty cream-cheesy though. I may add some milk next time and maybe a little more salsa. I sliced the onion very thin and it worked out nicely. I guess I like more filling because I only ended up using 4 10 inch tortillas.

Creamy Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2003
This was very good. I added some red bell pepper and a little garlic. But I had trouble keeping it warm till dinner and I eventually lost track of it while doing something else and it got all lumpy and separated. It still tasted good, it just wasn't as pretty. Good the next day too!

Onion Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2003
I was scared at first by the amount of onions, but they did shrink down with cooking. It took me about an hour to brown them though because of all the liquid in the pan. I added a few things: 2 cloves of garlic, some white cooking wine, and some grilled chicken (Tyson--frozen). It turned out pretty good although not great. The parmasean on top was a good touch. It reminded me of pasta-roni except with onions in it.

Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
These turned out really good. Perfect balance between the peanut butter and sugar tastes. They were light but still chewy..the way I like them. I used my mini muffin pan and baked for about 5 min. then i smashed them down and put in a peanut butter cup candy in the "tart". My boyfriend put chocolate chips in some too. I used the leftover dough to make the plain ol cookies. All were wonderful. I highly recommend this recipe. The best part is you don't have to refrigerate it..mix it up and there you go.

This was good for a quick and easy side but it was nothing special. But that's what I like about it...it was simple and classic.

Smoked Salmon Spread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2003
We got a pouch of smoked salmon for christmas..and were looking for something to use it with. This was sooooo good. We put it on Ritz. I also added a garlic clove, pressed and 1 Tbsp. of sour cream to cut the cream cheesy taste. I had no green onions so Ihad to use white but it was still awesome.

Salmon with Dill

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2002
My boyfriend is a huge fan of salmon and eats it often. We bought some salmon and used this recipe. I was shocked when he said it is maybe the best salmon he's ever had. He said it really lets the flavor of the salmon through but with just enough seasonings. But you'd better like dill. I tried it but I don't like salmon.
