About this Cook
When I turned 16 my mother insisted that I begin cooking a meal for my family (5 people)at least once a week. I wasn't too excited about the idea and decided that I would cook the most expensive meals possible. I hoped that this was discourage my mother. It didn't! Instead, I learned how to cook all kinds of "fancy" things and found that I enjoyed cooking as well. It's ironic that I now use this cooking skill to cook meals for my church. I regularly cook meals for 70 to 80 people now!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything! I especially love baking. I find it to be a creative outlet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter (3.5 years old) and I bake cookies together every Sunday. Since, as a family we are health conscience, we load up the wagon with the the cookies we've made and deliver them around the neighborhood. Everyone looks forward to "Cookie Sunday," as it has now become known.
My cooking triumphs
I bake the beautiful and time consuming Triple Chocolate Celebration Cake that graced the cover of Bon Appetit a few years ago. It is quite lovely and I make if often as a Groom's Cake for weddings.
My cooking tragedies
I was asked to bake 2 Groom's cake above descibed cake) for a wedding. I had all 6 layers of the cake baked and sitting on cooling racks on my dining room table. I finally finished all the components (mousse and ganache) prepared and began to pack everything up to take to the reception hall for the construction of the cake. When I began to pack up the cake layers, I noticed that my daughter had eaten the entire top off of one layer and had taken another bite out of each layer! She was so lucky that she was napping at the time that I discovered it. I had to bake all 6 layers over again!

Holiday Chicken Salad
This is one of the best chicken salad's I have ever had. I would make it just as written with the exception of two things. First, I seasoned my chicken with a poultry rub and then ROASTED it. Roasted chicken has much better flavor than boiled chicken. I also toasted the pecans. Other than that don't change a thing. This recipe is a keeper!

Chocolate Caramel Brownies
I would give these brownies 10 stars if I could! My husband said that these were the best brownies he's ever eaten...then he said they could be the best thing he's ever put in his mouth. Our neighbor said they were a drug! He found himself sneaking in our house and snagging brownies when no one was looking...sure sign of a junkie! I made these exactly as written! Don't change a thing!

Greek Pasta Salad I
Yummy! Yummy! I loved this dish! I did make a few changes, however. I roasted the red peppers, I replaced the mushrooms with chopped artichoke hearts and I replaced the pepperoni with cubed grilled chicken breasts. I also made sure that I mixed the halved cherry tomatoes in, while the pasta and chicken were still hot. It softened them just enough and really brought out their flavor. I love vinegar and I found the amount used to be just right. I will be making this again and again.
