About this Cook
i love to eat, so obviously cooking became a necessity.
My favorite things to cook
i was raised vegetarian, and had never eaten meat until about a year ago. now you cant keep me away! i love steaks and pork and chicken. i love it all!
My favorite family cooking traditions
we didn't really cook in my family but my nana made something she called parrot legs that i always appreciated. my mother wouldn't let me eat them because my nana was a questionable cook, but i have always been curious about them.
My cooking triumphs
i have recently been on a baking binge, which has been fun, i have celiacs disease (no gluten) so whenever anything comes out edible its a major triumph.
My cooking tragedies
i was recently making banana bread and forgot to add the bananas. i remembered after it was already in the oven. i remember looking at it and thinking, "huh something doesn't seem right, oh well!" flop. i took it out and mixed the banana in where i could. it was ok, but left something to be desired.

Baingan Bharta (Eggplant Curry)
i thought this was excellent. i was kinda nervous for my first attempt at indian food, but bharta is different every where you go that i thought this was a nice place to start. it came out great. i would have liked a little more spice, but i thought it was awesome. i would suggest simmering it on low for as long as you can (it just helps the flavors meld) i cooked it for almost 2 hours. delicious.

Vegan Red Lentil Soup
i loved this soup. it was easy and delicious. i roasted the squash in the oven and then pureed it before adding it to the soup, this made for a delicious, creamy spicy soup! delish!
