Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
This is a great basic granola bar recipe. it's much better than the more popular "playgroup granola bar" recipe on this site, which, in my opinion, is kinda gross.

Zucchini Pineapple Bread II

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
I made this bread twice, with some changes the 2nd time around & it turned out excellent. the bread tends to stick to the bottom of the pan, so put a little parchment paper on the bottom to help you remove it after baking without breaking. only added 1-1/2 cups of sugar, instead of the full amount (otherwise, its super, hurt-your-teeth sweet)& used half cup oil/half cup applesauce. you can't tell the difference & it just lightens it up a little. definitley try this one.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
way too sweet. tasted like seasoned ketchup sauce. to improve, use half the amount of ketchup and add a cup of crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce so the sauce isn't soo sweet. add 2tsp worcheshire, 1tsp vinegar, 1tbsp chili powder to add more depth of flavor. add onions & peppers in with the beef.

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Actually, the tuna tasted very similar to Chick-Fil-A's chicken salad sandwich. I am suprised at how many 5 star ratings this recipe recieved. While the tuna IS flavorful, I'm not sure it's THE BEST flavor, worthy of 5 stars. It was ok and a nice change from a typical tuna salad, but I probably won't be making it this way again.

Apple Cake IV

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
very good. moist, appley, cinnamony. beating the eggs & sugar for 15 minutes is necessary to keep this cake light & fluffy, otherwise it will be dense. if you will be adding a frosting, i suggest you cut down the sugar. without frosting, it is delicious the way the recipe is written. i cut the recipe in half, baked in a 9X9 baking pan for 35 minutes. excellent.

Creamy Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
they were worth trying, since they turned out nicely. you can fill the cupcake papers 3/4 full, since they don't puff up much. like other reviewers said, the chocolate cake part is a little dry, while the cream cheese filling is very moist, but overall they had a nice taste.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
pretty good, but needs some herbs to add extra flavor. ***also, why use canned chicken stock when you can use the water you boiled the chicken in? after removing the chicken, just boil the water down until you're left with 1.5 cups, and use that rather than canned stock for a more homemade taste.

Harvest Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
pretty good. the red onions should be soaked in cold water before adding to the salad...or roasted w/ balsamic vinaigrette in the oven to carmelize...otherwise, they're too harsh for this salad.

Garlic Dill New Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
i followed the recipe as written and they turned out pretty good. I suggest if you are mincing FRESH garlic to saute or roast it first, as the raw garlic is a bit overpowering. i would also give the whole dish a quick roast in the oven at the end to make it taste better. otherwise, the potatoes are just buttery.

the only change i made was replacing the cloves & nutmeg with pumpkin pie spice. otherwise, i followed the recipe to a T and it was delicious. seriously, you need to try this...you won't be sorry.

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

this recipe is good, but excellent if you doctor it up a little. while sauteing the chicken, add garlic, diced onions, chopped mushrooms & fresh basil. before you serve, top with shredded romano or parmesean.

Summer Vegetable Ratatouille

Reviewed: May 26, 2006
this was excellent. instead of cooking the veggies individually, i just threw them in a pot after cooking the onions and garlic and simmered on medium low for a while. they turned out perfect. top this with a little parmesean cheese and it is delicious.
