About this Cook
I love to cook and to garden. I'm constantly trying new recipes out for friends and family and yes, of course the dog! We just had a major kitchen renovation, so using the new workspace is a blast. It's nice to know where everything is for a change! I'm looking forward to starting an herb garden in the summer, if the dog will allow me some space. I have an online collectible gift shop/gallery specializing in vintage glass and porcelain. I like presenting my latest cooking creations on old china, and setting the table differently all the time. Nothing ever stays the same in this house. Check out my shop sometime at www.sasoritreasures.com You might find some old china or glassware to show off your favorite recipes! I'm looking forward to sharing recipes and trying some of yours!
My favorite things to cook
Spring rolls, Burmese Chicken Coconut Curry, Bulgogi, Pastitsio, dog biscuits
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pecan Sticky Buns at Thanksgiving and Christmas, without fail!
My cooking triumphs
I've mastered the spring rolls...thus, my favorite thing to cook :)
My cooking tragedies
A friend hand carried a glass jar of ready made curry back from Singapore. I decided to cook it for him. I thought it was a simmer curry, ready to cook, the just add chicken type. It ended up being a large jar of concentrated curry paste. (These jars are typically sold in very small sizes here). Trader Joe's sells a simmer sauce similar to the kind of jar my friend bought. Boy was that spicy! Thankfully I spent a lot of time on authentic side dishes to accompany the attempted cheater's simmer sauce. We had plenty to eat otherwise, but still...how embarrassing!

Alu Baigan
Loved it! I used the small Indian eggplants. I served this to Indian guests and was told that the flavor tasted very authentic. Try it!

Delicious Dog Treats
Toby thinks these are yummy! He's a lab...don't they like everything? We used half wheat flour, half white and about 6 tablespoons extra to give it the right consistency.

Green Beans with Herb Dressing
Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe. It's a great combination of herbs, and I took the advice of other reviewers and let it marinate for a few hours. The flavor was perfect. I also used slightly less than the requested olive oil, and found that a little bit actually goes a long way! My beans are a little shiny in the flashed photo. Next time I will use still less olive oil and I'm sure they'll be better.
