Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
This is, the best from scratch recipe I have found. I have tried many and they always disappointed me. I did smash the bananas rather than slice, and I omit the nuts because I just don't like that. Otherwise, it's terrific. Give it a shot.

Swanson® Roasted Tomato and Barley Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
Excellent soup. I added carrot, about 1 tsp salt and some pepper. Also a few bay leaves. I didn't roast my vegetables, rather I just did about a 5 minute saute of the carrot, celery and onion, and then the garlic for the last minute or so. Then you add in the tomatoes, broth and barley. I don't really recommend quick cook barley, it's more expensive per oz. than pearled... but if you do use it I would simmer the soup a good 40-45 minutes anyway, to let it all come together and become dense and flavorful. Then add the quick cook barley. I used Imagine brand broth. Great recipe, just what I was looking for.

Herbed Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Yeah, these are good. I don't know about wheat germ, I just used all bread crumbs. I like the spices listed, but I added garlic and onion powder as well. Don't forget to add SALT!!! I noticed someone mentioned these could use some, and they are right. I believe that's what "seasoned bread crumbs" means, but salt probably should be listed separately on the ingredients list. Tasty.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Not bad as written, but I agree with MommyFromSeattle. The beef broth and coffee really aren't needed. Neither is browning. Just put your favorite BBQ sauce in the crock pot with the pork. I also salt and pepper the meat, but I suppose you could skip that if you like. Shred it, add some warm fresh sauce and pile it on a kaiser.

Roasted Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I had to change a few things. I didn't measure the oil. I skipped the flour, oregano, poultry seasoning and potatoes. I used fresh parsley, dried marjoram, and about 1/2 the amount of thyme. I also used raw chicken that I browned right there in the pan after sauteing the veggies a bit. So, I guess I changed a lot of things, but I used this recipe as a starting point, and just used what I had at home already. But I'm sure it's great as written here. I giving this 5 stars because it helped me make exactly what I wanted, and you have to love that.

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
This is the best from scratch pancake that I've tried, but something is still missing. I grew up eating pancakes made with Bisquik, and I think that's just what I'm going to continue using. Every from scratch recipe I've made just seems lacking in flavor.

Zesty French Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
This is indeed zesty, it's tangy, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a try if you like zesty french dressings.
