I've always enjoyed cooking, but never really had the chance to experiment much. Recently I decided I should route out some nice recipes and have a bit of fun with them.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake things like cookies, scones, cakes. I've experimented a little with meat dishes but I can't say I'm as impressed. I think my "talent" lies in baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father LOVES to cook. He experients a lot in all aspects of cookery and always manages to make something uique and tasty. My sister in law is a fantastic cook. She is less into experimenting and more into your traditional dishes. She too loves to bake but makes wonderfull british roast dinners and home made pizzas.
My cooking triumphs
I haven't bee cooking for very long at all and so far the best thing I produced was a batch of lower fat scones. I was expecting them to be dry and chewy as a lot of low-fat cakes and scones can be, but they were soft, moist and delicious. You really couldn't tell a difference. I think the answer is not over-baking.
My cooking tragedies
I've had many tragedies so far. I attempted a recipe for quick and easy dumplings of which the final results were nothing more than a bland lump of soggy flour. Next time, no shortcuts.
