Loaded Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
This was a great soup! My husband, who doesn't eat potato soup, absolutely loved it! The sour cream and cheese were the big difference in an otherwise bland soup. I did use a lot more cheese, however: for the normal recipe I increased it to 2 cups and also added 1 tsp of dill weed. I made double the recipe and it disappeared in two days. Thanks!

Easy Garam Masala

I, too, needed this for the Moroccan Lentil soup. It was easy to make and added with a little sugar and black tea, makes a great, quick Chai beverage! I love this site!

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
This was my first try with fried green tomatoes and they were delicious! Word of caution: be careful that you brush off any excess salt before frying-mine were a tad bit salty, but still very good. Thank you for sharing!

Tortilla Rollups II

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
After reading the other reviews, I thought I'd add more flavor right off. I used Pepper Jack cheese instead of the cheddar, left out the onions, added finely chopped green pepper, 1 small can of chopped black olives, 1/4 c salsa verde, and added a generous sprinkling of Mrs. Dash's "Tomato, basil, garlic". After my official taste tester (hubby) sampled the recipe, it was a hit. It's on it's way to the Super Bowl party as we speak!

Ukrainian Meat Filled Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2007
This was a great base recipe. A few changes: pre-cooked the rice and added to 1# uncooked ground beef mixed with 1/2 raw onion & 3 cloves of garlic, chopped. I added 1 tsp dill weed and 1/2 tsp of caraway seed,1/2 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. I parboiled the cabbage for easier peeling (reserving the rest for Minestrone Soup). I used two pints of homemade tomato sauce for the bottom of the baking sheet and for topping the cabbage rolls. The sauce was absolutely amazing...and very rich! Two cabbage rolls each was all we could eat, along with some sugar snap beans and chunky applesauce. F*i*v*e* STARS in my book! Thank you for submitting!

Apricot Kolaches

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
This recipe is very tasty! I found that even at 400', 15 min wasn't enough time to brown the cookie. I am at 6000 ft elevation, that may make a difference. Also, the squares were difficult to manage, so I rolled out a 9" diameter circle and used a pizza cutter to cut out 12 wedges. This version looked great, but the filling oozed out. So, I cut out 3" diameter circles and put the filling in the middle-then folded over and crimped the edge with a fork. This worked really well. OH, the original recipe said "6 servings"...how many cookies is that per serving? Since I wasn't certain, I doubled the recipe and it turned out that I got 4 dozen from it. So, 6 servings was 2 dozen (not enough to share with friends and neighbors). All-in-all, this recipe is great!

This recipe is very similar to "Sour Cereal" with the exception of the chicken bouillion. I used to eat it for breakfast every day!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
Where's the sauce? This recipe was very tasty, but there was definitely a need for more sauce. I always try to follow a new recipe exactly, the first time and I would increase the amount of flour to facilitate more sauce.

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
YUM! YUM! It really was "fork tender". I steamed rice and used the au jus from the pan to pour over it and also steamed acorn squash (cut in half) and then filled it with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. It was a great combination. Such a "comfort" dinner....I have given this recipe to several people who loved it as well as I do. CUDOS!
