Blackberry Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
I just loved this recipe. I pick my own blackberries from our ranch and always in need of good blackberry recipes. I made this for a dinner party and the whole crowd was pleased! I did make a change however, used 2 table spoons of flour since I didn't have tapioca handy. It turned out great!!!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
Awesome bread pudding! I used old french bread which was hard as rock so I was a bit worried the pudding would turn out to be too hard. Well, I used 3 cups of milk and only 3 eggs, and it turned out great. People loved it and I submitted a photo too. Because I used a lot of bread and milk, I was able to cut them like bars. Will bake again!

Oven Fresh Seasoned Potato Wedges

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
I love the seasoning in this recipe! Instead of baking in the oven that takes over an hour, I just pan-fried those wedges after I microwaved them for 3 min. They turned out perfect and crispy, and only took 10 min total!!! I make them very often~~~.

Best Hot Crab Dip

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
This needed to be changed to make it less greasy. I only used half the cheeses and I'll probably use low-fat sour cream instead of full fat. I love capers but this made the dip incredibly salty. I'll use less capers next time. Overall this was a good start.

Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
What a delicious pudding it turned out to be! I used homemade dense cinnamon raisin bread and one leftover scone (all grain) to come up with 3 cups of bread, and it turned out just perfect to pudding consistency, not runny or too thick. Tried with regular store-bought white bread and it came out runnier, so definitely go with dense bread, it comes out whole lot heartier and has distinctive homemade taste. For sauce, I ran out of sugar so made with whip cream, caramel sauce and a little bit of rum instead of making sauce, so it was more like pudding Sundae. It was super delicious!

Thai-Inspired Confetti Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
I make this salad very often these days. Instead of cubing the papayas though, I slice it very thinly. Also, I add chunky peanut butter to the sauce which gives incredible rich peanut flavor!

Cream Cheese and Ham Spread

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
While the flavor was good, it was way too salty. I'd suggest adding some veggies such as celery or chopped onion. Otherwise just the cream cheese, ham and green onions were extremely high in sodium.

Carol's Arroz Con Pollo

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I modified this recipe in great deal after reading a few previous reviews. Instead of using chicken breast I used whole cut up chicken. Also, I replaced paprika to Mexican chili powder. Finally I added capers and some pork sausages and omitted salt quite a bit. It turned out super delicious and tasted much more like the authentic style I used to eat!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
These were the best brussel sprouts I've ever had! I halved the sprouts and microwaved for 2-3 minutes, then coated them in the oil+seasoning+garlic powder. Also, I roasted these in 425 degree oven for 15-20 minutes (depends on the amount you cook, you should look inside the oven frequently). I can eat the whole stalk full of these!

Finnish Pulla

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
What an awesome bread for holiday parties! I baked two loaves for a party tonight and they were gone in no time before they got cold! Add more milk than the recipe calls for, otherwise it is rock hard. I made this twice and added more milk the second time.

Nita's Lamb, Green Beans and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Excellent recipe! I used some lamb ribs I had plus almost a cup of fresh mint! I've never used mint in stew before and I'll always remember to use it from now on! The flavor is wonderful with a tbs of lemon juice right before the stew started to simmer.

Quick Gnocchi

This is the easiest Gnocchi I've never made, and it tastes so good! I'll make a huge batch again and never time, I'll add some chopped Italian parsley for fun.

Chef John's Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
I LOVE this soup! This big dumpling was a huge hit. I used chicken thighs instead of a whole chicken which saved time, and the meat was tender. I didn't have any creme fraiche available so used yogurt instead, plus some chicken broth in the dough, and the dumpling was very smooth and flavorful. I will make this again on any time I need warm comfort food!!!

This was so good with some baked salmon fillet! My boyfriend isn't crazy about the baked fish dish, but I think this sauce changed his mind a big time!

Rolled Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
Excellent recipe! I added a bit of chopped parsley in the dough. Instead of rolling I tore the dough and spread it to thin rounds and tossed them right to the boiling pot of chicken soup. Super easy to make such a good winter soup on a cold night!

Curried Coconut Chicken

I cook curry almost everyday but this is one of my fave! Next time though, I'll add more curry powder as I love strong curry flavor! I added some potatoes into this curry stew and it was fantastic!

Oriental Cold Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
What a great Asian noodle recipe! I'm Korean and I crave cold noodles in the summer time. This was perfect for my boyfriend who can't eat something too spicy. This was just right amount of spicy for my American friends too! I added a bit of Vietnamese dipping sauce to make it more exotic...turned out so refreshing!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
Terrible! Terrible! I ended up eating so many of these in one seating, it's terrible for my diet!!! I even used only half the sugar indicated and it's plenty sweet and yummy. Nutmeg really is a good flavor. I didn't have white sugar for the dusting so I used powdered sugar and cinnamon mix which made them taste super yummy. This is the most evil-good recipe I've read/tried so far.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
This made great bean burritos! I only had pinto beans but that worked out just fine. I didn't have any cream cheese so I put some cheddar cheese. I had some sausages which I added for more meaty flavor. Cilantro at the end really added some awesome Mexican flavor I really love.
