Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
What a delicious pudding it turned out to be! I used homemade dense cinnamon raisin bread and one leftover scone (all grain) to come up with 3 cups of bread, and it turned out just perfect to pudding consistency, not runny or too thick. Tried with regular store-bought white bread and it came out runnier, so definitely go with dense bread, it comes out whole lot heartier and has distinctive homemade taste. For sauce, I ran out of sugar so made with whip cream, caramel sauce and a little bit of rum instead of making sauce, so it was more like pudding Sundae. It was super delicious!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2006
I love this recipe! Lost my old oatmeal cookie recipe and found this today and tried it...with awesome result!! I did made a change however, used half butter and half shortening instead of using all butter to make it crispy around the edges and not spread out too much like all-butter recipe. Must try! Only problem is that you tend to eat about 10 at a time...

Blackberry Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
I just loved this recipe. I pick my own blackberries from our ranch and always in need of good blackberry recipes. I made this for a dinner party and the whole crowd was pleased! I did make a change however, used 2 table spoons of flour since I didn't have tapioca handy. It turned out great!!!

Fresh Pear Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
OK, I must say, pears do make super pies! I had so many pears from our pear tree and they don't ripe well, so I really wanted to make something that involves baking these pears. I followed the recipe except I tossed pears in sugar mixture and it was BETTER THAN APPLE PIE.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
Awesome bread pudding! I used old french bread which was hard as rock so I was a bit worried the pudding would turn out to be too hard. Well, I used 3 cups of milk and only 3 eggs, and it turned out great. People loved it and I submitted a photo too. Because I used a lot of bread and milk, I was able to cut them like bars. Will bake again!

Delicious Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
This cookies were great! I used stick margarine instead of shortening and cookies turned out soft inside and crispy outside, just the way I like my cookies. I'm giving only 4 star however, it was way too sweet for my taste. Will bake again with only half the sugar.

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
This was yummy! I'm only giving 4 stars because the crust wasn't too good. I used half butter and half shortening and the flavor was good, but the consistency of the crust wasn't what I expected from crumb bars. I suggest using beaten egg plus 3 table spoons of milk to the crumb mixture to make it a little more moist. I used blackberries I picked from our ranch and it was delicious, although next time I'll sprinkle with little bit of lemon juice in berry mixture.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
WOW! The best sausage soup ever! I love a good hearty soup in the winter and this really hits the spot. I used Hot Italian sausage, added chunks potato from one medium potato, half cup of frozen green beans, half cup of ziti pasta and used black beans. Also, I added one more cup of beed broth as original recipe comes out too thick like stew. Will cook this soup all winter long!!!

Scottish Oat Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
This was definitely a yummy scone, way better than what you get from coffee shops. It's light and you can really taste oatmeal which is my favorite ingredient. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
This is the easiest Gnocchi I've never made, and it tastes so good! I'll make a huge batch again and never time, I'll add some chopped Italian parsley for fun.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
I loved these Pretzels a lot, but I'm giving only four stars because the Pretzels didn't have the same dense texture as the ones sold at the malls. Next time I won't let the dough rise too long, and bake'em sooner so they come out denser. Overall it's a great recipe!

Pigs in a Blanket

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
Awesome recipe when you don't have much time to prepare for a potluck party! I made this for a club party and it was a big hit! I just skipped adding cheese and I would continue to stick to using only the cocktail sausages and the biscuit dough. I made them in my little toaster oven with bake function finished with broil function to brown it to perfection! Yum!!!

Nita's Lamb, Green Beans and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Excellent recipe! I used some lamb ribs I had plus almost a cup of fresh mint! I've never used mint in stew before and I'll always remember to use it from now on! The flavor is wonderful with a tbs of lemon juice right before the stew started to simmer.

Carol's Arroz Con Pollo

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I modified this recipe in great deal after reading a few previous reviews. Instead of using chicken breast I used whole cut up chicken. Also, I replaced paprika to Mexican chili powder. Finally I added capers and some pork sausages and omitted salt quite a bit. It turned out super delicious and tasted much more like the authentic style I used to eat!

Glazed Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
I didn't change a thing from the original recipe and it turned out well! It didn't have enough oomph though, so I'm going to try adding some pepper flakes and black pepper, as well as garlic powder and onion powder next time.

Cream Cheese and Ham Spread

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
While the flavor was good, it was way too salty. I'd suggest adding some veggies such as celery or chopped onion. Otherwise just the cream cheese, ham and green onions were extremely high in sodium.

Thai-Inspired Confetti Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
I make this salad very often these days. Instead of cubing the papayas though, I slice it very thinly. Also, I add chunky peanut butter to the sauce which gives incredible rich peanut flavor!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
Wow! This is soooooo good and I make it almost every Sunday night! Sometimes I don't have artichoke so I just skip it and this dip still tastes super. I tried using sour cream as well as mayo and they both taste great although I like it with low fat sour cream as a healthy choice! We eat this with sour dough bread chips, totilla chips, crackers or bagels...All are great!
